Advice on picking a new bike rack
I left my 3 bike Sair rack on the car for a week. It got stolen from right in front of my house.I won't be laughing at my friend anymore who always puts the rack in the trunk when we get to our location.
Anyway, I have an Audi A4, the Saris really never fit it perfectly, but it worked great. I want something that I can lock in place.
Any suggestions?

Roof mount or trailer hitch. Those can be locked in place. But even then, you are really only keeping honest people honest. If someone really wants something, and they have the opportunity, it will get taken.

I agree. I keep my bikes inside my BTV ( a minivan) but I always liked roof racks. even without locks they are time consuming to remove. the hitch racks are nice and I am looking for a used hitch so I can find a used rack for a workstand. you could always ger a heavy cable (we used to sell a 3/8" 6' long cable with loops on both ends) that you can loop around the rack and put the loose end in the trunk.

I hate roof racks - it's a real pain getting bikes up there on the roof, and the danger of leaving them on top when you drive into the garage is also something to keep in mind.
I always used a cable to lock my saris rack to my car if I were leaving it somewhere for an extended period of time - you just run the cable through the tube and put the end of the cable with the lock in the trunk. The trunk would close on the cable, but you couldn't pull the lock through.

2. Put your garage door remote in the glove compartment when you load bikes on the roof. When you don't find it in it's regular place, you'll remember why.
