Hanging/Storing Bike

This may sound naive, but will hanging my bike by the wheel for an extended period of time have an adverse effect on the wheel or axel etc...im running out of room in the shed and dont want snowblowers treestands tools etc messing my ride up. was thinking about using rubber coated hook to hang by back wheel from one of the rafters to keep it out of the way. any thoughts.
