Buying a bike on Black Friday?
I've been hunting around for old Black Friday ads, but there don't seem to be any mention of bicycles being on sale. Anyone know if there are usually discounts given at bike shops/online on Black Friday? If so, is it on the bikes or just accessories?
Thanks in advance!

I don't do any shopping on Black Friday at a brick 'n mortar or even online.
Instead, I ride. Leave the craziness for the sheeple.

Last year, this bike was $1200 on JensonUSA (currently listed as$1350, but was being sold for $1650 at the time).
https://www.jensonusa.com/store/produ...5+Bike+10.aspx
I purchased it and then it was stolen. I asked Jenson if they could possibly sell me it again at the sale price. They said no.
Anyway, expect JensonUSA to have some pretty nice Black Friday deals. I'd make a list now of anything you're interested in and compare the price that day.

It's the Friday after Thanksgiving in the US. Thanksgiving is the last Thursday in November. Since most workers get Thanksgiving and the Friday after off of work as a national holiday, that weekend is often a large shopping weekend to get the Christmas shopping season started. Stores have been having really big sales that start that Friday for many years. More recently, they started calling that day Black Friday. It can be crazy at Walmart and Malls that day, but really good deals can be had (if you are willing to brave the crowds and deal with crazy people willing to run over an old lady in a shopping cart to beat them to a Blue Ray player on sale for 18 dollars.)

In my experience, most of the crowds are centered around the malls, big chain stores, etc. I've never heard of anyone going to a bike shop, which is why I'm curious about any potential deals. I'll probably end up checking it out, as my family home is near 3 local bike shops.

after the summer season is over , and there will be new 012 changes to stuff
to sell, at the LBS in spring.
and Inventory taxes to pay in January, I don't think you need to wait
till that particular day to bargain with the bike shop management.
but I'd take the time to go do it in person.

I avoid Black Fridays at all cost! I'd rather pay full price for something I need on, say, July 23rd or so...

I'm with Hippiebrian generally, but...
I accidentally went to a bike shop last year on Black Friday. 10% off the entire store, even better deals on some items. This was a smaller shop and I don't imagine they took out ads in the newspaper so you'd have to call around to see if any shops in your areas have such sales.
Oh, and the shop wasn't crowded and there were no fistfights so I'd do it again for sure!

My LBS, East Ridge Bicycle has had a fantastic black Friday for the last several years. 25% off of everything (except labor). I bought a new bike last year.
