I bought a miscellaneous lot of parts from a multi-sport shop closing its bike repair business. I've had fun the last few days sorting through a lot of stuff. I wound up with several bits I couldn't identify. I'm hoping you can help me out. I know the first part is a freehub body of some sort, but not being a freehub kind of guy, don't know what it's for. The couple Shimano freehubs I got in the parts mix didn't have this sort of screw connector, using a hollow 10mm allen fixing bolt instead. The second is a wrench of some sort, but for what? The third item has what looks to be the female version of the threads on the freehub body, but is somewhat smaller in diameter. The fourth looks like a brake straddle connector, but once again, like nothing I've seen in my limited experience with center pull brakes. (There are two more allen set screws holding the plastic sleeve in place.)



Any help appreciated...

Thanks, but what kind of freehub does this freehub body fit? All my googling has come up empty. I've seen a bazillion Shimano images, lots of Campy images, images with pawl setups of various kinds, but nothing with this coarse-threaded attachment scheme.

It is likely for an off brand hub of some type like a Bontrager, Coda something like that. Do the tabs look like shimano compatible?

The part in pic #3 is actually a part from inside a coaster brake. It is attached to the part driven by the cog and is srewed off and pushes on the brake pads when you pedal backwards. Then your start pedaling again it scrws in and releases the brake pads.

I don't think #2 is a valve tool but what it is escapes me at the moment.

Not sure what tabs you're referring to (I've never used a freehub before that I ever took apart), however, it sure looks like the ones in this singletrackworld post. Thanks for the hint. Thanks also for the coaster brake explanation. Looks like it can go in the scrap metal bin. :-)

Tabs---- yeah I drew a blank I was thinkging of the splines and what pattern they were.

Did you try that tool in pic 2 to see if it fits a Schrader valve? There is noting in the pic to give it proportion but it looks big for that.

That was pretty dumb to not measure the little wrench or shoot the photo with something else to give some perspective. It is indeed too big to be a valve core wrench. The smaller diameter of the shaft is 5/16" and runs for 5/8" before enlarging to 3/8". The shaft is about 2-5/16" in length. There are also some internal threads on the handle end of the main shaft.

I'm thinking item no 2 looks like a chainring bolt tool. If the shaft is hollow it likely had a second part that screwed in to lock it in place during extraction.
