Giant Escape 3
Hello All,
I bought a Giant Escape 3 over the weekend. I have road it a couple of times and I like it. Compared to my road bike, Its a lot more comfortable. I did read that the stock saddle is not very comfortable and I would say it is ok but not great. Can someone recommend a better saddle? I am not a speed demon, nor will I ride distances greater than 10 miles. If it helps, I am 240 pounds and I am 6'2". We have a bike lanes in much of our town so I use the bike lanes when I ride.
Thanks, Bill

Saddles are personal. You could just try riding the stock saddle and see if you get used to it. I ride a Brooks B17 Standard. At this point, I could not see myself riding anything else.
Also, are you wearing cycling shorts? They really do help with chafing and discomfort, once your butt hardens up and gets used to an hour or more in the saddle.

I just bought my bike , a Giant Roam 3 , it has the same saddle as yours.
The Giant Connect Upright is the saddle they come standard with.
I read , before I bought , that the seat was pretty good , and for me it is.
It's quite firm , and that's OK , the shape and the placement of your sit bones makes the most difference usually.
Before you throw it away , make sure the height and fore-aft placement are correct , also make sure it's level.
Don't assume the dealer set it up properly , mine didn't , and that's OK too.
I got mine pretty close initially , and after a couple rides , got it tweaked really nice.
A couple millimeters off , you will feel the difference over time and miles.
My local shop has a box of stock seats (takeoffs) that customers must have changed when they picked up their bikes without giving them a chance first.
I might have to see what they have , maybe a spare for cheap.
Make sure it's fitted right , then decide if it's not comfy over time.
Good luck , ride safe.
Mick

I have a Giant Escape 1 which also has the same saddle. My previous bike was a Giant Cypress which has a very cushy saddle. It took me at least a month to get used to the new saddle. It is important for me to get out of the saddle every 15 minutes or so to give my backside a rest.
