Well I took the Schwinn Varsity back to Walmart, (that was short lived). And then picked this up tonight at Dicks Sporting Goods, it is the Diamondback Insight 1 19" that's there large, seems to fit me very nice, took it for a ride while my wife was shopping at TJ MAX. Here is the link : https://www.diamondback.com/bikes/per.../insight-1-11/
Just weighing it on the bathroom scales at home, it comes to around 26 pounds give or take. I really didn't go out shopping for a bike, till I spotted this one, and I had already returned the Schwinn. Was attracted to the light weight, decent components, free 30 day tune, and back on 700 x 32c tires, I feel much more comfortable on this. It seems big for being a 19" bike. Not sure on the aluminum forks though, well have to see. Richard : )

My drop bar conversion is (almost) done!
So i got the sifters installed on the bar and everything set up. I definitely have to get a shorter stem, the reach is doable but not what I would consider comfortable. The biggest thing I need is a new front deraileur, As I was setting up the front shifter, I found that the deraileur is broken as you can se ion the photo, part of the metal simply broke. I'm not too upset, It was 15 years old.
The last thing I need to do after stem and deraileur is install some matching cables and some new white bar tape.
Ill post more pics when its finally done

I am having difficulties seeing how that Lefty fork es even attached. Looks like 2 zipties from the steerer to the Headtube. Lol. VERY VERY custom Nicely done.
xoxoxoxo The Giant is pretty much done. I have some tuning to do and I believe I will have to swap out a front fork/brake boss, but other than that. The FCR I think is a full blown road bike sans the TRP Cantilever Euro X Brakes. I will post a pic later this evening.

Okay, I was able to get around to taking a shot. Still have a few very minor things to correct like seat height, clip cables and do all that. But here it is complete with Stage 2 of my Road bike Upgrades for 2012.
Differences from before are nore more Bar-End shifters (Now Sora Temporarily) and upgraded the Tekro V-Brakes to TRP EURO X cantilever brakes, which means all new cabling, cable guide for front and rear brake added to headset and seat collar, as well as new wrap for now. Until stage 4 of this process is complete. Then I'll switch back to the red.

I wish I knew how to list another thread in here because you really should check out a 2011 Utopia that was converted to drops. It was done by someone going by "chibibike", I'd recommend doing a search on her name and look at how her bike came out. I think it looks really sweet and it wasn't overly expensive to do. Sorry I can't just post the link.

Schwinn searcher sport. Just picked it up from the LBS. Will be used to help me lose some weight, 18 lbs and counting.
