Well, here is my work in progress. A Bikes Direct Cyber Monday sale frame and fork shipped for 139.00 Donor bike is a Trek 7700FX that was a cheap Craigslist buy. Bike will have tiagra 9S components. Wheels are the stock Wheels from my Trek 2.1 Currently waiting on a few odds and ends purchased from ebay. Had to pick up some road brakes and some red cable housings also got a new saddle a bontrager affinity that was 20.00 new which happens to be the same saddle on my Trek 2.1! so can't wait to see how it turns out and rides!

I hope everyone knows my Flat bar comment was meant in jest. The beautiful thing about the hybrid forums is the diversity that makes up hybrids, and the openness to the different builds. Definitely a fun group. And there are lots of flat bar road bikes posted here. ^^^

Nothing to write home about. Old frame, fork, seat post. Everything else is new, never ridden.
Never sat on. Most of the parts are new takeoff stuff from the LBS, got a good deal on a
lot. Some are quiet old, but new.
No picture? Well most likely on one cared anyway!
I am working on it..

BOHFM, that 720 is vintage and it looks fresh off the showroom! I am always keeping my eyes out on a nice early trek Chromoly frame for use as my Hybrid instead of the stiffer aluminum! I loved my old Trek 930 ridgid forked MTB made a great Hybrid! Sadly had to retire the frame to my lack of maintenance and rust issues! I wish my LBS had some deals like that or having some cycling buddies I could trade parts with! Anywho love the solid black frame and any bike I get a deal on is a great bike!

I love older/ vintage bikes yours looks great, the fact that you cared enough to piece together an older bike as well as that in my books shows you have a higher appreciation of cycling than a lot of people.

Thanks for the nice words. I bought the bike last April, yard sale, $40, new rear wheel, tires, tubes
brake pads and I rode it 8300 miles this summer. 1600 in July. I like the bike so much I decided to
make it new. It is just the right size.
I have a new Raleigh Detour that I really enjoy riding, but the old black Trek will always be my
bike of choice.
BTW. The Trek is a "91 model and according to the LBS, they checked the serial number, it
was a factory custom. We don't know what is different about it?? It appeared to be all original
when I got it.

Those 90's Trek MultiTracks are great bikes! I've got a 1995 730 and the only reasons it's not my main bike are that it's slightly too small and my dad likes to use it to pull a trailer with my nephew in it!

Seems like I'm done with upgradings. Wha's left out of 2009 Bad Boy is frame and fork.
I started with 26 lbs and now I'm at 22.8.
I might go further with going to carbon but I'm trying to stay sane.

22.8 is wonderful. The best I got was 24.10, but I converted it back to the heavier stuff purely because of boredom. (I needed a change visually)

I just bought a new Hybrid today!
I bought a 19" Trek 730 back in 1995, rode it until 2007 and then bought a Trek 7.2 FX and gave the old 730 to my dad. Recently, I decided that I wanted to go back to steel so I gave my dad the Trek 7.2 and brought back the old 730 and started riding it. I quickly discovered that it's smaller than I prefer and my dad said the 7.2 doesn't work very well with the trailer he pulls my nephew in. I started watching E-bay and Craigslist for an older model cro-moly hybrid while making a back-up plan to buy a Surly LHT or Cross Check frame to build from the ground up.
After 3 months of looking, an ad popped up on Craigslist for a 21" 1995 Trek 730 and it was literally in the subdivision across the street from ours! Now my dad can have the 19" 730 back to pull my nephew, I can get my 7.2 back to ride and I've got the right sized 730 to work on as a project bike! I'm a happy camper!

corwin1968, I have a 1997 Trek 730. It's an awesome bike, I love the way it rides. You lucked out when you found your "new" 21" Trek 730. Congrats.
