I'd say the single most difference in weight are my disc brakes. My BadBoy doesn't have mounts for v-brakes so I'm stuck there.
Your rims, pedals and cranks are probably lighter too than mine. The rest of my "bits" may be comparable to yours.

Have you got a road bike also? It's lovely sometimes to get out on the open road with your head down and arse up, and belt along.

Picked up an 2011 KHS Vitamin A, for my wife for her, "commuter/back up" bicycle. The angle of the photo makes the bar ends look "really" tall, LOL.

Nice KHS. Good thing you mentioned the angle because I was going to mention the Steer/horns coming off the front of that thing... Lol

Your barends look really tall and your frame looks really small,
but as long as you like to ride it ... what matters that is all. (forced it to rhyme there )

Good eyes, yep, it's a "XS or 13 inch" frame, my wife is VERY short legged and this is the tallest "NON-womens style bike" she can ride. LOL, even without the weird angle the bar ends are quite long but she like them better than the short one's I prefer!

Thank you... The kickstand came with the bike, and it made it much easier to take the picture right there. (It's no longer on the bike )

Hi folks, still pretty new to this forum, so i thought i'd share some pics of my hybrid. Its a K2 escape that I got for fathers day, and its a pretty solid bike thats gotten me to do a lot more riding. I put in an 8 speed cassette (from a 7 speed freewheel), Shimano bar-ends and a drop bar. I know when I was doing research and asking around, a lot of people tried to shy me away from doing the conversion, but it rides just the way I like.

I finally committed to a bike build. I got caught up in the Rivendell philosophy and my original plan was to build this bike up with a very upright riding position (check out the bars still on it!) and fat tires. After riding it a bit that way I've decided to make the bike more aggressive. I'm not really into casually riding around, I like to push it and go hard and fast!

I plan to change the 700 x 38c tires to something in the low 30's, replace the ridiculous rise handlebars with something in the 30-50 mm range of rise and maybe replace the Ergons with the variety that have bar-ends attached. Long-term, I will have a custom wheel set built (I'm a super clydesdale), replace the 7-speed cartridge with an 8 or 9 speed, finally decide on shifters (using cheap friction thumb shifters for now) and get the frame powdercoated. Unless I get bit by the distance bug, this will probably be my only bike for years to come.

Why? This is not the 41.

Most people here in Japan use a stand on their bikes.

Nice looking bike. The drop bars suit the bike and if it's what you prefer, go for it.

I thought I posted this but maybe not..... this was from a ride a week before Christmas, 44 miles of (mostly) unpaved roads.
