Marin Lucas Valley

I am new to the hybrid forum. I notice this forum and thread is being overrun by the Trek FX series. Here are a couple pics of my Marin Lucas Valley. Would not trade it for a Trek.

The downtube on your Marin looks a lot like my TREK 7.7 FX

It's not enough to have the world's fastest hybrid according to NYC Bike Snob, you also need to rub our noses in it? Haha, thanks for compiling those stats.

I never heard of Trek fx before reading this thread, but since then I noticed one of our delivery service's strongest riders is using one.

You're welcome.
I really thought heiny hos assertion that Treks had overrun the thread was erroneous.
While they are not all FX series bikes, the Trek brand is well represented here.

One of my favorites is flaxx's BMC. (post #408 for additional pics or his bikes)

Either one would make a great fitness bike imo.

The BMC looks light and fast, but it's a bit gaudy. Although it's not a frame you will see in the Tour de France and carbon has eclipsed Ti as the premium frame material, I like the Airborne better.

Bike Snob NYC disqualified the Madone from consideration as the 'world's fastest hybrid' because it's a road bike conversion and thus not a true hybrid. That would rule out the BMC and the Airborne as well.

Your bike is winning the Fx category (sorry Panther, your wheels have too many spokes) and maybe the 'flat bar road bike, but not a converted road bike' category, but I don't know if we can have a category with a name that long.

Why can't you ride off road with those wheels? The tires seem to have some tread.

The Airboorne has a much cleaner look than the BMC (i'd prefer an all white frame ....but hey, not my bike) and I really want a Ti bike...moreso than carbon. hmmm....

Saddle Up pointed out to me that CycloX enthusiasts equip with 404s so I'm not averse to off road excursions anymore given the right tires. The Contis on my bike have been switched to Bonty hardcases though.

Here's a shot of my old trusty 730 Multitrack. (Sorry to add to so many treks, but until I can upgrade, I'm stuck with it.) This pic is from a "how not to build a bike rack" thread, way back when. As you can see it's too close to the wall and thus jacks the front end up. Duh.

Tour de France winner, Alberto Contador's bike has a sloping top tube.

You don't ride, what difference does the angle of your bike's top tube make? Is it easier to hang a display bike in a NYC apartment if it has a level top tube?

kshep. you added the pictures after I wrote my response. The BMC frame I recalled was green and yellow, team Phonak colors I think, which is why I called it gaudy and implied it might be seen in the TdF.

The black/grey/white camo cross bike isn't as hard on the eyes, but I still like the Airborne. Like you, I would rather own a Ti bike than a carbon one.

80 miles??? Shame on you...leave that crackberry at the house (so you won't be interupted) and ride that beast! You'll feel better.
