This morning explored around a park (wildlife conservation area) not too far from my house. Found some nice dirt roads/singletrack and postcard views...

Nowhere. My bike has taken me nowhere because it's too cold for me to ride outside at night. I can't wait for winter to end so I can go on more night rides.

But seriously, same here, way too cold/gross outside to go riding. I know some people will ride no matter the weather conditions, wet or not. I am not one of those people. Quite honestly, I prefer cool/overcast conditions for my cardio/fitness rides so i don't overheat. In the spring/summer, I ride 90% of the time between 7am and 9am for that very reason. I get heat related headaches if I workout too hard on a sunny day and that sucks bc it takes a couple of days for me to fully recover from them :| |

The same ride as in previous ride reports with a sneak preview of the world tour opener. The tour village is not quite open yet.

nice day here in north Florida, out for a ride on the Jacksonville-Baldwin trail. Never been here before. It's a14.5 mile railroad track converted to path in a very shaded pine forest and rural country areas.
One of the trail access parking areas is on this rural road. First day with my new Serfas FS-243 saddle: https://s6.postimg.org/ygnqnoc75/01.jpg You can also park at Camp Milton and ride this walk to the trail. https://s6.postimg.org/fe4d0r16p/image.jpg I'm going almost the whole path: https://s6.postimg.org/nerugpww1/map.jpg Milton Camp rest stop, trail just ahead. Wonder what it's like? https://s6.postimg.org/joj0wc69t/image.jpg on the trail now: https://s6.postimg.org/8q7re5hoh/05.jpg Trail is straight and shady and great for road bikes. I saw mostly road bikers, then hybrids, cruisers, and 3 or 4 mtn bikes: https://s6.postimg.org/5xeju4hc1/07.jpg temp: 77.5 https://s6.postimg.org/70yo631z5/08.jpg One of the few intersections on the trail. This is way out of the city in deep rural area: https://s6.postimg.org/3ve2fvjcx/09.jpg |
cont'
across from that intersection is this natural gas power station. You know you are way out of the city when you see a power station!: https://s6.postimg.org/kkk3pj5c1/10.jpg https://s6.postimg.org/9m8u7cgqp/11.jpg back on the trail, there are some people, but only a few. I saw maybe 40 people. This on a weekend: https://s6.postimg.org/5pqwxm6dd/back.jpg high temp of the day, however the air felt cool under these trees http://s6.postimg.org/umpp0s5hd/image.jpg some roller bladders out here, fixing a wheel: https://s6.postimg.org/njr0cnetd/14.jpg one of two rest stops with tables. There are benches every 3 miles or so: https://s6.postimg.org/nhbq3k0jl/reststop.jpg https://s6.postimg.org/dl61q65dt/13.jpg https://s6.postimg.org/r4mvvvjcx/15.jpg this was the: http://s6.postimg.org/e1dh7dozl/image.jpg 2 hours, 20 miles today |
good one!

short ride around Jacksonville Beach, FL today
Beach Hut Cafe https://s6.postimg.org/ngyehpdc1/jaxbeach0.jpg street next to beach all to myself: https://s6.postimg.org/7p3duns8x/jaxbeach2.jpg If you live out here, you surf & bike a lot: https://s6.postimg.org/x6lse99z5/jaxbeach3.jpg fat tires are great for sandhttps://s6.postimg.org/okiitnxz5/jaxbeach6.jpg https://s6.postimg.org/4ef0us2bl/jaxbeach5.jpg https://s6.postimg.org/sn9jsqs3l/jaxbeach1.jpg |
Today I rode to Mount Lofty lookout with lots of pic's because if I get to clean and service the roadbike i'll be on that next week thus making it illegal to post rides here lol
Just started climbing http://i.imgur.com/EGMJC5M.jpg http://i.imgur.com/oLQ2mjK.jpg The back roads to the mount are popular for training and some used for the Tour Down Under so there's plenty of messages on the road, I was already stopped here for the top 2 photos's so .... http://i.imgur.com/O0PN0vf.jpg http://i.imgur.com/iQVTdbe.jpg It's not straight up. There's plenty of twisting back roads up and down with little traffic and well shaded that the tour doesn't use. There loss really! http://i.imgur.com/HvwDuYS.jpg http://i.imgur.com/0Za55Xs.jpg Pretty girl at the top http://i.imgur.com/F9L9hft.jpg http://i.imgur.com/nI3iVmY.jpg http://i.imgur.com/lvvzQWN.jpg http://i.imgur.com/or445zN.jpg The ride back down uses different roads but just as good or better : - ) |
How wide are your handlebars? The reason I ask is that I am guessing they are about 580mm and I'm wondering if you have ever tried out say 620mm wide handlebars AND have your bar ends situated inside of your handgrips, rather than the outside of them? |
