Offroad on Giant 3???

Offroad on Giant 3???
I just got a Giant 3, with the stock 28 wheels... I was wondering how far should I trust it on offroad conditions. I assume that hard-pack is OK, but what about gravel and small rocks???
I'm a former big, fat tire guy and don't quite know what these skinny little wheels can handle...
I know that my size makes a difference, I'm a 220 lbs clyde...
