new to biking a little help appreciated!
Any opinions on which I should get!? I'm sort of leaning away from the Trek 7.2 FX as I'm thinking these are all basically pretty equal and thus why spend more for that particular brand (money is an object!). I'm very new to biking but my basic riding with this would be fitness/fun and on mainly streets and then some light gravel bike paths. I was in the general forum last night and the moderator suggested you guys over here in hybrid bikes would know more about these type of bikes.
Fuji ABSOLUTE 2.1 - STEP OVER - $479

Trek - 7.2 FX - $549.99

Cannondale- QUICK 6 - $510
https://www.cannondale.com/2013/bikes...ick-sl/quick-6
Giant- ESCAPE 2 - $500

Let me know what you all think! All opinions welcome.
Thank You

Heh, it may not sound like much, but I've been through the same situation. Didn't have much money - had set my mind on a Giant Escape 2. Rode it, and found that it wasn't as comfortable, for me. The slightly more expensive Sirrus (still base model) fit very well, and the more expensive Cannondale was outright uncomfortable (dunno why really). So I bought the middle one - the Sirrus - and am very happy with it still. Just make sure you take each bike for a long test ride - not just around the parking lot.

EDIT: The Giant is a gorgeous bike. Yes, looks are a big deal to me. If I didn't have an FX2, I would look hard at the Giant.

I agree with tread. Also, the Trek can be had for 499.99 and even lower if on sale. My LBS sells the 7.2 FX DISC for 549.99 so the V-Brake variant should be under 500 bucks. Are the prices you listed MSRP's or actual shop prices? If they are all MSRP's I would venture to say they will all price lower at an actual shop. Goodluck, you will enjoy whichever you choose!

Oh, I didn't even think of that. It's like buying a car with MSRP's. All the prices I listed were on the MSRP's. I'm glad to know I can get them for even less! I have noticed in the two times I posted about these bikes the Giant Escape 2 seems to get all the compliments for beauty! Thanks for your help.

Matte colors look cool when they are very new, but they look like (insert expletive of choice here) when they get older. you can't wax them or polish them. any thing spilled on them will ruin the matte surface effect and be very visible.
this goes triple for cars. bug splats, tree debris, and bird poo, all these things leave stains on matte surfaces that are really hard to restore.

Just visited my LBS because it's "Trek Fest". Only two Trek models were on sale and all the others were full MSRP. They said Trek dictates which models can go on sale. I kinda figured this might be the norm, but now I'm thinking they're just overpriced?

I think they might be peeing on your head and telling you it's raining. Your LBS that is. Both Hackman and myself bought our Trek from the same bike shop for below MSRP. I think it depend on the shop.
