7300 Upgrades: Trekking bar/700x25c Vittorias *George Takai*"Ohh My!"

I can't believe the difference these additions made to this bike. My old Bontrager Hardcase 700x35s felt sluggish and low on air when they were inflated to the max. I lost 2lbs of tire and the acceleration and feel of the bike changed drastically with 700x25 Zaffiro Pros. Climbing is easier and the bike just feels nimble now. My buddy took it around and said: "That's gotta be the easiest bike to ride I've ever been on"

I was getting numb hands from the riser bar and the trekking bar eliminated that issue. I can't recommend this odd looking bar enough. I find my hands on the rear curve as my most comfortable position.

Great looking bike. Those handlebars look real comfortable. Nice job.

Thank you sir. They really made this bike comfortable on longer rides with plenty of hand positions. Protected my hands in a crash too. Air blower installed the foam grips in about 2 seconds.

I have been feeling the Hardcase 700 x 35 tires also. You helped me make the decision to replace the tires. I had been thinking about it because i do like my 7.3 FX. The tires don't do it justice!

BTW - nice bike and good upgrade choices!

Those Bontragers are probably bulletproof if you run over a bunch of glass and roadside bombs but not necessary for me running on relatively clean MUPs. They felt like car tires coming off the rims--sidewall stiff as the tread so I have no loss of comfort going to the shorter sidewall 25s.

My buddy and I meet up for pre-work rides and usually ride 12miles in <55 minutes. He couldn't keep up after I switched the tires and holding 20mph on flat ground was a breeze with the new tread. It accelerated downhill scarily with my hands on the front part of the trekking bar. I placed a Nashbar order and he had me put some road tubes in it so he could dust off his Cannondale road bike to keep pace.

It really is a night and day transformation. Can't believe the difference. Now I just need to find a carbon fork...

Carbon Fork would be sweet! Went to LBS today. I was considering 700 x 28's but the tech suggested 700 x 25, since that is a more common size.
