Newbie from Ontario
Hey guys,
Just picked up my first road bike, a 2012 Specialized Allez Sport, about a week ago. The last time I was on a bike was almost 20 years ago and I must say I remember it being a lot different. I remember being on a bike all day and having unlimited energy and now it is not at all the case
Went on a quick 8k ride on Friday since the weather was warm enough and I was eager to test out the bike and seeing if I even remember how to ride a bike and well, as the saying goes. Got comfortable with the bike quick and had to test and adjust to make sure I was comfortable in the saddle and off I went for a quick ride. Loved every second of it and felt like a kid again (apart from the lack of limitless power). Needless to say I am excited to start adding miles to it and setting a goal of being able to ride 50k non-stop by the end of summer.
Also, they weren't lying when they recommend to ride with padded shorts. I laughed at the idea of wearing padded tights and thought that sweatpants/jogging pants would suffice. Needless to say that after a few icepacks and 6 packs, I have acquired a pair of bib shorts and a jersey and looking forward to riding again to see if they make a difference.

Welcome to Bike Forums. Glad your first ride was "enjoyable". Bibs are definitely the way to go. Have fun.
