im jacked about cycling
Hey guys,
Im 38 and I come from the powerlifting side of fitness but always loved the cardio high. I used to ride in my teens but quit until I was 38. Ive gotten into it the last 3 weeks and honestly could care less about the strength training anymore. I just love being out on the road and have managed around 320 miles in my first 3 weeks. It really is addicting, its my escape. I will continue to do some basic training with weights to retain a fair amount of LBM but from here on out im a cyclist. Im hoping to ride the 35mile segment of the tour de tucson this November. Im not really into competing just yet, its just for me.
I purchased a performance house bike,
its this one..https://www.performancebike.com/shop/...tegory_ID=3040
Ive upgraded the seat to a specialized BG avatar and also changed the wrap to the specialized body phat.
On retrospect I should have bought used or atleast from an LBS. Id like to support the small guys but I couldnt afford an equal bike and wanted to take advantage of the financing deal.
Another thing is that I really enjoy the mechanical side of things and trying to get my bike as smooth as possible on the road.. Its just fun stuff.
see you guys on the road, right now its just about clocking miles..
take care

Thats a great bike for the money. Don't worry about supporting the LBS, if they do their job correctly they'll be fine and you'll be spending plenty of cash there (tune-ups, clothing, etc)

yea, I can see that. Im really trying to stay focused on just getting miles in. I already am a little neurotic about it making any noise when I ride thats not right. It fun and I need to learn its mechanics anyway
thanks
