Wheeled Migration in progress

Hi, folks. I left Minneapolis, MN by bike in August on a year-long trip around the eastern half of the US, circling the Appalachians. I went east to Ohio, then back west as far as Kansas and south to Texas. I've been in Austin for 5 weeks now resting my sore joints and sitting out the winter. In about a week and a half I head east as far as Florida, then up the east coast with the spring and back through Canada to Minnesota, if all goes well.

My photos and travelogue are at https://zanerokklyn.250free.com/migration/ . I look forward to sharing tips with you. --Ben

I looked at a few pages of your pictures. It appears to be a wonderful trip! I'm sort of interested to know what you brought, what you use, and don't use. Are you happy with touring by recumbant? When you return to the Twin Cities, I'd love to attend any sensoround, multimedia show that you present. I have two boys that I want to motivate to take a bike trip, to Superior, in the summer. Possibly they would think that they could do this, after getting an idea of what another local biking nut is doing.

Regarding what gear I'm using, there's more info than you probably want at https://zanerokklyn.250free.com/migration/gear/ . I'm planning to lighten my load when I leave Austin, though, so that info will change shortly. Thanks for your interest! --Ben

I really enjoy your website and the reasons you have for going on your tour! I wish there were a lot more people interested in bringing attention to sustainability, etc. with their tours. I do think that your gear list is pretty excessive, but I guess you've already had plenty of miles to think about that. Good luck and godspeed on the rest of your journey.
