Tanaka Decaleur: Opinions / Experiences?
I'm considering the Tanaka Decaleur from Soma for my current setup.
Is there anyone here who has used / seen one? I'd like to get some opinions before I spend on one since they are not exactly cheap. Also, if anyone has one mounted I'd like to know the dimensions / reach too.

I don't have one. People have talked about it on the internet bob email list, and a couple of people that have said it is heavy and too complicated. There is a guy on that list that makes the stem half of a decaler to fit the Velo Orange bag half. That looks pretty slick, and it is custom length.
I just finished my first rack for a randonneur bag. All I can say is my next randonneur is going to have a longer top tube so that it's easier to get the bag in front of the stem. I am not using a decaleur, I hope that isn't a problem. Bag seems solid. I have an Acorn boxy rando bag with loops that go around the brake levers. I don't intend to overload it, mostly carry food because I have a problem eating enough on long rides. I have another bag that needs a decaleur, I'll probably make one for it. I have a VO decaleur, but the stem half is not even worth putting on a bike.
