Nutrition Plan for Week Leading Up to MS150
Hey gang- I am doing the MS150 4/12.
It's 100mi the first day, 50mi the second. I am 250lb and in a good place training wise, however I want to have the best energy reserves I can for the weekend. Thoughts on nutrition for the week leading up?

You should maintain your normal routine, no experimenting. You will find a lot of dietary suggestions out there, but it's best just to ignore those.

Focus on the nutrition plan during the ride. Rest up a bit during the week before the event and just eat properly so your glycogen stores and liver are filled with fuel. Eat a good meal at least 2 or preferrably 3 hours before the ride. Start eating about 30 minutes into the ride. Consume 200-400 cals/hr......just graze for the whole ride while on the bike. How much you can tolerate during a ride depends upon many factors, too much to go into. Ride at a pace you can talk to a friend. Drink 3-6 bottles of water depending on the temperature and your pace. You won't bonk.

I ride rando rides every weekend, 200k and up. To prepare for those, I try to eat about normal, try not to get too fat. If I could eat some special way and dramatically improve my ridng, I would, but that doesn't happen. Like he says, not a good time to experiment. Not a good time to be bloated, either.

Just keep eating your usual healthy, well-balance diet.
