I am wondering if anyone has any GPX files for the upcoming Westfield, MA, Catskill 600k brevet in 2014 ? I usually find most of the rides on RidewithGps.com, but this time I have no luck.

As soon as the cue sheet is posted, create the route yourself. That's what I do. For sure, even if a RWGPS is posted, I copy it to my account and go over it turn by turn to see if it's correct. Very often there are errors.

there are a couple of people I know that are very careful about their routes, but they didn't ride the last 600k I did. I found a route on rwgps, but it was riddled with errors. Later the person took it down. I made a copy and fixed it. That can be really annoying. It took me a while to become comfortable with making my own routes, I think it's worthwhile. The best advice I can give is to make as few control points as possible and check the cue sheet for missing turns. RWGPS is good, but probably 2-5% of the turns don't show up on the cue sheet. You can manually add to cue sheet and I use that for controles. It does show up on a garmin 800 using tcx files, not sure about other devices

Thanks, I used to make my own, but, I guess, I got lazy. Lately I usually find one already made that somebody rode the previous year. The problem with the cue sheet is that it is not updated till almost the last day before the ride. I may have to do a GPS file using a 2012 cue sheet.

I know this reply is too late to do you any good, but if you contact Don he might know of someone who has done it, even if it isn't on RWGPS. But maybe next time...

i usually make them myself for the brevets i do, and double check, and triple check them. even then, i can still make some errors or overlook something, orr maybe it won't load correctly come time to use it, but that's no one's fault but my own.

i just recently considered 'sharing' my work for fellow randonneurs doing the same rides.

If you make them public on a site like ridewithgps, they will be found, that's pretty much guaranteed

Thanks Emily. The route did not change since I rode it last time back in 2008 or 2009. I think you were on that ride also.

Could be... would have had to be 2008, since I was in Germany in 2009. I think that was the time I'd just put on a new saddle, and it kept sliding backward on the rails despite my stopping to tighten it down as hard as it would go, repeatedly. I was getting fairly uncomfortable until finally at the sleep stop Don thought of making some shims out of soda cans, which worked like a charm. I only took those shims off a few months ago, when I got a new seatpost.

One of these times I'll make it back out to that ride again, it's a nice route. How was it?
