Sounds like you're ready for the Euro tour circuit

He might not be strong enough. They had a couple of more days to "train" then he did.

Not enough. With the extra 20lbs your w/kg is still under 6. Never going to win the TdF at that rate.

The magnetic resistance unit for aluminum rollers arrived today. It works! I don't understand how it works but at the highest setting there is a lot of resistance. my coach is gonna love this.

Cool... one clarification - can you run your regular tyres on the rollers, or do you need a dedicated tyre just as with a trainer?

My Tarmac with the PT wheel has GP4000S that I ride outside, at trainer class and on the rollers. My track bike has Conti Ultras on the wheels and I ride it on the rollers. I think if the tire pressure was too low the trainer wheel could chew it up some but mine has a smooth wheel. I have smelled burning rubber a few times when I was doing 10" sprints, that was cool...

AJ, I've watched that video of your spin class a couple of times. Way cool! The perspective reminded a little of an old industrial building, but that added to the charm. I saw at least one gal in there (to your left). Tell me, were you riding your rollers there?

I'd love to see such a class here, rather than on the Matrix Spin Bikes we do use. There is nothing like a fit and proper form!

Spanish. Their economy is in the dumpster so they work cheap.

And as soon as I have one of these kidneys removed I'm at the w/kg gold standard.

I see Lance is considering confessing. This puzzled me until I noticed in the background of his latest tweeted pic that his calendar seems to be from 2011, along with all the newspapers.

Sara- we bring our own trainers to class. I'm on my trainer. The Idea of rollers in a class would be interesting but could not be mixed with the trainer group. Usually about 20% of the class is female. The instructor breaks each drill/interval into separate levels from D to A. The reason I'm on the front row in the video is due to my wife missing the class.e She is not a cyclist per say but uses the class for exercise and not to be a more accomplished rider. We normally sit in the middle of the pack.

I "liked" Sarah Hammers husband's bicycle shop in Mallorca Spain on FB. I hope this does not put me on some USADA hot list. Experience is what matters in this sport. I renewed my license before it ran out and did not take advantage of being doped out of my mind for a week or two.

AJ, I like it! I'm going to ask my spin instructor/team mate if we could have a class one day where those of us who have them can bring our bikes/trainers. THAT would be fun!

We array in a big half ring around the instructor in our classes. The issues I have (other than the heat) is that the spin room is really noisy with the stereo blasting and Kadria yelling ('WE'RE ADDING SOME MORE!!!!!"). I can't hear a thing, what with my aviation-hampered hearing. In a way that's a blessing, I guess. The gals around me don't try to chatter to me any more, they know I can't hear them. That allows me to breathe and concentrate on efforts. Any port in a storm!

Between aviation, racing motorcycles, shooting, and diving calling what noise filters into my brain "hearing" is stretching things.

Sitting with a guitar, bass, and drums just to my right in bands for years didn't help me any... In school, a guy came in and said something about giving everyone hearing tests. We literally said "huh?", because we didn't hear what he said.

My first three years in the Army were in Field Artillery. You were considered a wimp if you used ear protection, so of course I didn't. I was surprised when I found out that not everyone had this loud ringing in their ears all the time.

What pains me is that I used to have exceptional hearing. My vision was excellent, too, but that is usually expected to degrade some with age - and it can be corrected. Hearing doesn't naturally degrade, and if one takes care to protect it, you can hear as well at 80 as you did when you were a teenager. There is no correction for it, either - I wouldn't call a hearing aid "correction". I can compensate well enough for my loss (and the tinnitus) that I can make very good recordings for my clients. The one thing my hearing loss doesn't do is mask by boyfriend's snoring. I've heard quieter race cars.

That's not entirely true. High frequency hearing loss is part of the aging process. You may not notice it, but it is there, and can be measured. It just may not have hit you yet.

There is a difference between hearing loss and hearing acuity. One can have very high hearing acuity with hearing loss. They have learned to compensate. But there is no replacing hearing loss. Once it's gone, it's gone.

My kids are deaf and use cochlear implants and hearing aids. Their loss is genetic, but my wife and I don't have each other's side of the gene pool so we don't have hearing issues. At least most of the time.

There are high frequency ring tones that kids use so they can text in class without the teacher hearing, and someone in England devised a high frequency noise generator to use outside his shop to drive loitering kids away. The high frequency loss comes on fairly early in life.

Of course, we all sometimes use 'selective hearing', but can blame it on our age.

The Phoenix Day School for the Deaf is a couple of blocks from my home. When groups from the school happen to be in the same restaurant, they can get very loud - or not - depending on the makeup of the group.

I am updated my A/V system in my house. I thought cycling was bad but this is even more ridiculous. Six years ago when we moved into our current house, I had a custom A/V system installed with speakers in each room with controllers and all the A/V equipment in a closet. The control is from a master wireless controller.

I wanted to update to stream music from my iPhone or computer to each room in the house and replace my CD player. And I am dropping ATT and using Comcast for TV, phone and internet. That will be a monthly savings with faster internet. And I am putting in a 2 TB wireless network drive for back up and to be the source of the music.

Well, it took two men 1/2 a day to make the installation and they are not done yet although it works. As an electrical engineer, I used to do all this myself but it is so complicated one needs special training to do the programming and setup. They are coming back after Comcast makes the switchover to clean up any issues created by Comcast. One annoying aspect was that my "million dollar" controller is obsolete and could not be reprogrammed and I had to buy another current one. Fortunately, my installation guys had some refurbished controllers that were available at a better price. They told me that soon my amplifier will be obsolete and when I get a new TV, I will have to update my amplifier.

The system is pretty cool now that I can control my music from the computer and iPhone and the wireless audio server aggregates my iTunes music, radio stations, SiriusXM and Pandora onto the platform. So I can listen to the various stations and premium content (assuming I subscribe).
