Maintenance and Upkeep
What needs to be oiled and what should it be oiled with? I am new to this but I hate to pay someone to do something that I can do myself.

Derailler pivots, chain. And they need to be cleaned as well.
Oil and dirt are liquid sandpaper.
Do it with a cleaning -do your cogset and chainrings, wipe the derailler, totally clean the chain-let dry, oil EVERYTHING, wipe off excess.
Eventually if you want to, you need to learn to re-pack bearing grease into wheel hubs.
I use Pedros all-purpose, even for oiling cable housings.
If you clean your bike with water under pressure, don't spray into the rear hub, you may flush more crap in and your grease out.

Thanks Jeff. I'll pick up some Pedro's tomorrow and get to work on my Fuji since the Mongoose is getting it done at the bike shop because I have yet to burn my free tuneup.

Hey guys, how well does WD-40 work. Please don't flame me if that's a dumb question.

WD-40 is not good for lubrication but is good for cleaning. The oil in WD40 is very light-weight and breaks down very quickly.
I usually use water or a diluted de-greaser to clean with (simple green works well but keep it off paint) and then lubricate.

Use it for cleaning, not lubing. Its a good way to clean your cassette. Just coat your cassette with it, wait 5 minutes and spray off with a hose. Leaves it nice and shiny. Thats what i do anyway.
