Would it hurt my bike carrying it like this???

I got a new bike rack and the only way to fit my bike onto the car is mount it on the down tube.
I drive on the highway a fair bit, and at speeds of over 100km/h (60mph), I'm concerned the wind may be putting too much pressure onto the rear linkages. I think ever since I started carrying my bike like this, the bottom of my bike creaks, and I think it maybe one of the bushings.
Opinions??

Are you sure that's the only way to carry it? You could get one of those things that cuff to the seatpost and stem. I don't know what they're called.
Higher center of gravity = more stress on rack

The normal mounting position invovles the rear stanction of the shock sitting on the mounting point, which I really dont like.

You need a crossbar. It attaches to the seatpost, and underneath the stem. The rack clamps to the crossbar. Yakima calls it the "Tubetop"
