I prefer Juicy 7's to Hayes Nines, but I've never ridden El Caminos.
So I have to recuse myself, sorry.

I have tried both, and prefer the Avid brakes over Hayes.

A friend i know from a local bike shop said that the Hayes El Camino perform just as well as the Avid Juicy 7's.

How exactly do you wear a "fullface Helmut"? The only fullfaced Helmut I know is pretty big and probably wouldn't like being worn, especially as protective gear.

Perhaps your buddy doesn't know how to setup his brakes correctly

Currently I run tektro mechanicals all jizzed up with Avid SD5 levers to try and get some feel. My new bike runs (when I finish paying for it) Hayes XC 9's, will I feel let down by the Hayes or are we talking a small difference between the Avids and the Hayes in performance and/or feel here?

edit: Ye-up, thats a full faced Helmut.
