Nope...Dirt Rag is beginning to suck. The past few issues had no articles of interest to me. It is in the top 4 but isn't number 1 or 2

Then again my favorite mag isn't fully published yet and isn't on the list soooo...I have to go for second best

You've piqued my curiosity, what is your favorite?

Flow...it applys more to the style of riding out here. Otherwise the rest have ups and downs. Dirt Rag was my first mag and I do love it but have been disapointed recently. Launch is also new but from what I have read it is decent. Mountain Bike sucked at the beginning of the year but every one has gotten progressively better. Mountain Bike Action just doesn't catch me (not sure why). I buy it but...I don't know. I also Enjoy Mountain Biking Magazine for the interviews and good photo shoots (this is the parent company for Flow and came under new management early in the year).

I don't have 1 mag I consistently like (Flow has only had one release) but Dirt Rag seems to take a direction of 'old school'. Which is cool, but not my thing.

Cheers...and readin this I think I need the summer time. I have way too much time on my hands

I've heard good things about Flow too. I hear Dirt from the U.K is a good one, but pricey in the states. I like Mountain Bike Action, Procycling, and Velonews.

If you get a chance check it out. They choose a layout like euro mags. The pics, interviews and reviews were awesome. A worthy mag if they can keep it up.

Hey Maelstrom. Im always scanning the mag rack for bike mags but always see the same ones around where I live (MBA, Bicycling, and Mountain Biking). Are dirt rag and flow canadian magasines? If not where would they be down here in Washington. Im getting tired of MBA and need something cool to read and look at.

Launch is new and small. I have heard on other forums of people reading it everywhere. Mostly from people in the Seattle area. Ask around at Ridemonkey for where to find it.

Dirt Rag is American. It is a very unique mag and cover ALL spectrums. Trials to dh to old school xc to ss etc...Its and American mag with a long and rich history. www.dirtragmag.com

Flow...I WANT THIS MAG TO BE FULLY PUBLISHED. If any mag people visit this site, make this a fully subscribed mag PLEASE!!! I found this at an Airport in TO. It is huge and hard to miss From what I have heard about DIRT, it is North Shores answer to that wonderful and epensive euro mag

As an Aussie I haven`t taken to one American mag,I like the aussie ones best but also find the odd pommie one informative.

I wonder if MBA is put out by the same people who do Motocross Action? That is the best for mx. I did a search on altavista for flow magazine LOL!, you should try it. All I saw was links to cannabi type sights...

I've just picked up a copy of MBR, its a Brittish mag... too bad there wasnt a north american mag with the same sensibility...
It seems to be geared towards the regular schmoe, who just wants to ride, not an oogle at a $3000 frame with full XTR, (ok I wouldnt mind having one...) But thats just one issue as a sample.

I subscribe to Dirt Rag and to BIKE. Over the years both these have been consistantly good reads. I have previously subscribed to both Mountain Bike and Mountain Bike Action.

I still buy an occasional issue of each of the later, just to see if there is any marked improvement. Usually, there isn't.

The last couple issues of Mountain Bike have seemed to have a very negative tone to them. Almost a constant "defense mode". I also wonder after reading my last issue, if Zap shouldn't just change to name to "Motorcycles and Oh Yeah Mountain Bikes Too"
The editorial included Motorcycles, Letters to the editors did too, new products were almost entirely devoted to motorcycles and there was a highlight on Mert Lawill and how he's taking his mtn bike suspension design and applying to just what?-motorcycles.

MBA, is so-so. I like it, just not enough to subscribe anymore. If someone gave me a subscription for Christmas, I wouldn't complain (Hey wifey, Hint-Hint). Their articles are very short and seem to lack substance, but overall, I like it!

Yes. I like Dirt Rag because it actually takes more than 10 minutes to read, the content is diverse, they guys (and gal) actually ride their bikes and it's pretty. MBA is good purely for bike specs and pics, and Velo News is uniquely enjoyable. Are there any 'cross rags?

Dirt Rag and Bike are my favs. Both magazines seem to have good substance and fairly creative writing. Not to mention the great pictures in Bike. I’ve never checked out Flow or Launch.

I was shocked to see that MBA was ahead in the pole. I think that mag sucks. All they ever do in MBA is bash hard tales and tell you that if you're not riding the latest full suspension POS, you're not a mountain biker. I bet those guys at MBA don't even ride.

MBR's generally not bad, although they do have a tendancy to occasionally forget people buy the magazine for pictures of bikes, not semi-clad ladies.

What Mountain Bike is better, but very kit orientated.

MBUK is aimed at those going through puberty.

Dirt is okay if you're into racing, and then mainly BSX and Downhill

Everytime there is an ad with anything remotely provocative, there are a slew or "Letters to the editors", yet the people writing in, are the same ones that let their 10 year old daughters dress like Brittney Spears! The hypocracy is incredible!!!

BTW, where can I get a copy of FLOW? Do they have a website too? Haven't seen it down here at any of the newstands/bookstores.

Currently the 0th issue of flow was on short release. Kind of testing the waters. The next release is in Jan and I hear it is going to be more widely available. So far you can't get back orders or get a subscription. There is only going to be 4 or 6 a year until they figure out if it will be successful. Check with the parent company mentioned above. They may have more info.

i dont know what you guys are thinking but i like MBA. they have good bike pics and reviews. oh well its an almost free country.

I think most of us read it. I know personally I just don't consider it a quality mag. I read every issue, I just not overly impressed by it.

You could buy some extra issues and sell them to us! Kinda like an underground black market. We'll then call you the Flo*****! j/k. Really though, when it hits, I'd be interested in getting a copy. Even if it means having you send me one if you'd be so kind!
