New crankset time
It has become time to decide on a new crankset. Now funding for this is not a problem at all since the most I am willing to spend on the new crankset is almost $500usd. Now I just have to figure out what crankset. It also has to be in by thursday of next week. The shop I'm going to be getting it from I do know has a set of Shimano XTR's in stock and in the correct sizing, so that is an option. Or I think they had a set of Truvative Holzfellers in stock. Or get a set of Profiles or order and hope it comes in on time a set of Race Face Diabolus Cranks. Suprisingly, I'm leaning towards the xtr's(Most of the regulars here know how much I hate shimano and know that I'm an avid Sram user.)

JUst curious, what crank set are you coming off of and whats the condition on it? Does it need to be replaced asap or can it last a while longer?

I am coming off of a set of 4 year old Race Face cranks. That are cracked, so yes they need immediate replacing.

If that is the case, I would definetly go with the Truvativ or the XTRs.
Hoping for the Profiles or the Raceface to come in on time is kinda sketchy. You never know what can happen and this could put your riding to a hold for a indefinite time.

i've got a truvativ holzfeller double ring crank set, but i still don't know how they are yet because they're waiting to get put on my bike... i was gonna wait until my current cranks (truvativ 5d triple) bent or something, but that doesn't look like it's gonna happen anytime soon (they're pretty good for entry level stuff).
i ordered a set of holzfeller pedals and they should arrive sometime next week, so when those come, i think i'll put on the new cranks & pedals instead of waiting .

Raceface is having issues with bearing load and loosening. The engagement isn't working very well as the similar setup of xtr. Personally that would be a right off.
Personally...and I hate to say this...right now XTR are making the best stuff for the money an not a killer weight.

Well, found a new crankset and I wound up cheaping out, believe it or not I got a deore crankset, the xtr was sold by time I got there, and the holzfellers were too short. And being that I need the bike by tomorrow night, I can't wait for the profiles or Race Face's to come in, my theory is if I can get the deores to last until I'm back up in NH, I should be able to get a different set of cranks. The ones I got were Octalink.
