I took a hacksaw to a $7400 bike

It was unnerving. 2010 Fuji DSR 1.0 with ISP. Beautiful bike though. I've had it at the shop for about 2 weeks now waiting for the guy to come in with enough time and no kids to get it done. I resized him on his other bike, also a Fuji with similar geometry and took the measurement from pedal to seat top over to the DSR. It went well but I think it needs to come down just a bit more, I told him to go for a few short rides and see how it feels and give me some feedback on it before we take anymore off.

Sorry, I had to share this, I'm so excited I haven't screwed this up yet.

Every ISP I've seen has a few centimeters of adjustment once cut. Still silly IMO, but not completely retahded.

I cut an old seatpost on a bike one time. It's the same thing.

Yeah, about 5mm. Makes it less frustrating dialing it in.

They designed it so it could be used with a normal post. Just it cut down to the minimum mark, put a clamp and seatpost in and you're ready to rock.

I saw the title and I though of a joke we make around the shop all the time.

"The bike is great but I think it's a little long for my torso."
"Just pick up that hacksaw and take a little out of the middle of the top tube."

I could have sworn you were about to say "take a little out of the middle of the torso" but then I realized Halloween was a week ago.

You didn't say this to the customer, did you?

Only 5mm of adjustment? Dang. I would want at least 10mm and 20mm would be better yet. The compromise of an XC race design.
