Congo Rats!

While I'm not familiar with the Hoss, Kona makes great stuff.

Hey Big Lug,

Congrats on the weight loss. As a big guy myself I know it's hard to change your habits.

My worst one is drinking Mt. Dews and soda in general. If I stop drinking soda and just drink iced-Tea or water, I'll drop 10 lbs in a week.

I'm in the process right now of trying to drop some lbs. I'm limiting my sugar intake and try to do the simplest diet I know. Burn more calories than you take in. IOW, eat less, exercise more.

I've dropped 5 lbs in the last 2 wks.

I do well giving up the DEWS. It's hard at first, but after 2 or 3 days I'm fine.

I'll be off of them for months. Then I'll take a long road trip, or just have a night where I don't sleep and I'll have one, just one. Then I'm hooked again.

I have a LOVE-HATE relationship with Soda.

It's really about my only bad vice.

Keep up the weight loss.

Good on ya!

I was the same way. I drank so much soda especially Mt. Dew. Now I only drink the Diet Code Red and the Diet original flavor. It took some work because I hate the after taste that so many diet sodas have. These aren't too bad. Diet Verners is really good too if you can find it. Now I'm working my way of soda all together.

Good job man, but if I were you, I'd take it a bit slower. You don't want to burn yourself out and if you keep going super hardcore, you might find you lose interest in the sport.

Good deal, Big Lug! I think I might kill someone if I only drank water. I try to lay off the soda, but I like to have some flavor in my drinks(esp. with food). I drink a lot of tea, milk and fruit juices. Lots of sugar in that stuff, tho.

I don't know-I'd ride every day if my body, bike and schedule could handle it. It's great stress-relief for me.

Yo Lug! Nice job with the weight loss. If there is anything that I can do to help further your progress feel free to shoot me a PM or an email. I personally have also lost quite a bit of weight through the years. It's a lot easier with a support system. Keep up the good work. BTW Nice one with the Hoss, that's what I ride too (I'm a big guy too- 6'5" and about 240). Mark

Go big guy! Proud of you. Want inspiration, read Heft on Wheels. A great read even if you're not trying to lose lbs (that's pounds not local bike shops).

Alot of encouragement on this board. Guess you never can tell where you'll find support from others.
Good job Big Lug, I'm a 330 pounder myself and getting into commuting for weight loss.
Can't wait to see how your weight/health will improve, and it will.
Just reading your last 3 posts is enough to make me want to clock out early and take my bike for a 10 mile ride.

Just making sure. People can do really silly things in order to lose weight. I just wanted to make sure this wasn't the case for you.
