Serious seat post questions.

How to you measure the length?

Do you just count the length of the tube or do you include the clamp?

The reason that I ask is that I'm trying to find a good post for my DJ bike so I can also use it for XC (therefore I need a long and strong post) but I was trying to work out the length of the one I have for reference.

well usually they will have some sort of marking saying the diameter. If all else fails, see if you can get a caliper

Length is from the center of the saddle rails to the bottom of the post.

You really need calipers to measure the diameter, since they are sized in increments of 1/10 mm. It'd be easier to look up your frame on google and look for a seatpost size reference there.

I love how a thread titled "serious seat post questions" has degraded into a discussion on weed.

just to echo what other people have said, you really need calipers to measure a seatpost. 26.6, 26.8, and 27.2 all look the same side by side and even end to end.

Not quite sure, I've heard something about it but I'm sure if any changes are made they aren't going to be drastic.

hey Raiyn:

I know this is a litte off topic but you will laugh your arse off if you get it.

How do you fit an elephant into a safe way bag?.......

You take the s out of safe and the f out of way :-).

Now listen to waht you say about the punchline - it's subtle

The third part of this punch line usually said by the person the joke is told to is:

There is no F in way

Still subtle
