1995 Santa Cruz Heckler
Hey hows it going everyone? This is my first.. and definitely not last post here on these forums. Heres the deal, I just found a guy that is selling his 1995 Heckler for $300. I am pretty sure they came out in 96 so maybe he is confused, but I just wanted to get everyones opinion on this. I searched everywhere on the net for info on the older hecklers to no avail. I ride pretty hard, but don't have too much money to spend, what do you all think?? thanks

Yikes. How much money do you have to spend on a bike and then we could give you options/opinions on bikes

I dont have too much to spend, maybe a few hundred bucks. $400 being my max. I used to mountain bike a lot, sold my 2000 giant XTC and now regret doing so.. I rode a heckler a few years ago and loved it, as well as an older Y-22 which I liked as well. So everyone agrees a no go on the $300 heckler? thanks for the responses!

I think you'd have to ride it, and get specifics on the part spec. He could have replaced everything last year with full XTR, you never know...
I agree with being skeptical about 10 year old fullys though. But as I said, he could have replaced everything last year (bushings, etc) and it could ride like a new bike. But I was under the impression that the Heckler came out in '96 as well.

I talked to the guy today, i guess he had the bike taken apart and put back together with some XT parts and a no-name rear derailleur, which i would definitely replace. Standard wheels Marzocchi Bomber forks.. Front derailleur (xt) he says is loose, so id probly opt for a tune up on it.. i might go check it out and take it for a spin
