Rides around Northampton/Deerfield Mass.?

I'm going to be spending July 4 weekend thereabouts, and am planning on riding some version of the D2R2 later this summer. Anyone point me to any nice rides in the area? 40-50 miles sounds right for a holiday weekend, because I need to leave time for beer-drinking. Dirt roads welcomed.

Thanks in advance,

Steve M.

Do the Green River Route of D2R2. To mix it up and add some climbing, you can return via the metric century route. The cue sheets are available for anyone on their web site.

BTW...If you do the event, it's a blast. They feed you well and you get a free beer at the end. I was a four-year "Deerfield Boy" (class of '83) so going back there was a walk down memory lane.

Rode the metric this morning. I have to say, that's one of the most aesthetically pleasing rides I've ever taken. Just lovely. The countryside looks as though someone gave a kid a pack of crayons and said `Draw the countryside.' Sun on the sides of the mountains, fog in the hollers, cows wandering around scenically. Towns that practically committed assault and battery using quaintness as a weapon. Wouldn't have missed it. Thanks so much for the recommendation.

I'm glad you enjoyed it!
My wife and I rode the NCC bike fest 72 mile ride on Friday NCC 2014 BikeFest 72-Mile Ride - A bike ride in Northampton, MA and we agree 100% with your description.
"fog in the hollers" my wife loved that.
