This morning was the coldest ride I've done this year--11F on the iBike when I pulled in to work. Exposure time was 1 hour and 4 minutes fighting a west wind much of the way. When I woke up, it said that the temperature at Parkville Middle School was 15F.
My camera phone was locked and it couldn't read it's own lock code due to the cold. I wanted to get a picture of the iBike temp reading. Oh well.

Wow
NR-My hats off to you man. I think you're ready for the Idita-bike.
Oh, and if we're allowing football comments on the bike forum-Two great games, Ravens beating The C Boys and Giants beating the Jags last night. Gotta love the Ravens beating the Cowboys at home on the last game to be played at Texas Stadium. The Giants winning in OT last night in my beloved Meadowlands--- in freakin' cold temps-that's football!!

Yah, I e-mailed him for a ride report. He's a busy guy, said it was a good ride, lots of rollers. I got to hand it to him for being back in the saddle and doing 100 + mile rides after that shoulder injury. Last ride I did with him was the Seagull. I'll get out on a dcrand ride at least once in 09.

Bah! My iBike died on the way in--well, the batteries died. It started showing goofy data. I guess I can't get away with doing too many rides back-to-back at these temps before needing to place new batteries in it.

Derath, I still haven't got my december century in yet, good time to use your gen III (Ibike?), I'm thinking friday after christmas or saturday if anyone has similar thoughts, no thought put into where to or anything yet. Just in the I'm thinking about it phase.
Both Friday and Sat are looking pretty good right now.

-D, is something wrong with it? Or, is it that you just haven't calibrated it, yet?
If that's what it is, I'd just plug in some general numbers from an old profile into a new profile and start getting used to using it.
Or, just do a single coastdown for now.

Between Falls Rd and Greenspring Vally Rd (near Seminary) Google Maps shows this little path: https://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/233311
Anyone know if it's bikeable?

When I got my upgraded unit it sat in the baggie for a month. Quitting your job and starting a company during an economic downturn eats up a persons free time.
Anyhow I just pulled it out to start using it this week, only to find I didnt have Garmin compatibility on the unit. My original iaero was a -G model. So I had to email John to get an unlock code. I was getting worried about delays due to the holidays but john just emailed it to me today.

Anyone [else] doing Janet G's ride out of Hunt Valley tomorrow @ 1030am? (starts at the Western Run Park & Ride @ Western Run Rd and Shawan Rd)
ANYWAY:
For your viewing entertainment...
If you find that you're getting bored...
Go to:
https://www.bimactive.com/live
then, scroll to the bottom of the page and in the User Name text block, type:
NoRacer
and, in the Password text box, type:
westernrun45
followed by a click on the [Track Now] button.
Doing so, between 8am and 4pm, you will be able to track my position as I ride out to the ride start, do Janet G's ride, and ride home.
** If I'm stopped at about mile 47, it's probably because I'm eating lunch. **
** NOTE: The password will only be good for this outing. Afterwards another one will be assigned. **
If you want to find out more about "Live Tracking", click the link in my signature.

BBC Christmas Ride 2008
By the time I was done, I was ready to get off of the bike. This ride beat my ass for some reason. Maybe I should have eaten dinner last night. The 1/2 bowel of oatmeal this morning just wasn't enough. Maybe it was chasing Lucasz:

Tracking
NR-Checked out that tracking feature this afternoon-pretty cool. I think you were at the Park and Ride. Your phone must be off a bit though as it showed your avg at 10 or 11 mph.
Not enough time for a good ride today but I got out for a few miles of trail running at Loch Raven. Looked like a good day for road riding though, less traffic. Maybe tomorrow, Saturday, Sunday.

If you look at the blog entry for this ride, I filtered out the stops and it made the average 14.9 MPH, but my iBike had the average at 15.1 MPH because it does a better job of knowing when I'm stopped and when I'm moving--the iBike is more accurate than the GPS, including for elevation and slope.

On the short ride we had two fixies and one guy in shorts. I thought the weather was amazingly nice today. I had the lead group in sight for only six miles, I was definitely on the mellow side today. Around mile 16 my rear shifter cable broke inside the shifter housing (of the Shimano Tiagra for the third time since I got the bike. ) I had a spare but it took some work fishing out the little piece that was left inside the works, anyway by the time I got it all back together Gloria pulled up and we all went to the rest stop together and had some good conversation.
I am now officially annoyed with the cable breaking where it does, it does not do that with the front derailleur so something is amiss.

Maybe you'll be lucky, can open it up and find the area in the shifter that's chewing up the cable, but if the bike is under warranty, have them order you a new one. You got it thru an LBS, right?

Any semi-local centuries going on saturday, anyone want to make one? I should be free for an all
day affair for saturday.
Williamsport is just way to far to go for me, 3 plus hours of driving total, yikes.
Barry on the shifter issue, I think I saw a bulliten about this and it said to the following
1)confirm shifter is shimano part
2)purchase SRAM rival
3)problem solved
Thats cool you were able to fix it and keep going. If it was me I'd be in whatever gear it let me and huff it home.
But seriously the wife has the R500 shifter on her bike and with winter gloves its difficult for her to shift, I have rival and I could wear lobster mitts and still be able to shift, just one of the reason I chose the bike, one shift lever does it all.
