New York Century

Has anyone who has signed up for the New York Century gotten their ride packets yet? I signed up about 4 weeks ago and was wondering if I need to contact them. I'd like to not have to wait thru the pick-up tables again this year. Last year they were so disorganized and took so long I missed the 6:30 start.

I signed up but was told that they would begin mailing out the ride packets this week (week of 25th.) Hopefully it arrives this week.

You can still register online. This doesn't technically fill up since there are no street closures and it's basically a ride on regular NYC roads.

Haven't gotten mine yet (though I'm marshaling the 100 so I may get it at a different time). Hoping this is the year I get to finish!

I posted too soon. Packet (what there is of one) arrived yesterday. Number tag and instruction on how to get to the start.
Did we start the 100's at 6:00 am last year? I thought we started at 6:30, but maybe it was too early for me to remember.

As already mentioned, this will be my first century and it looks like I'll be doing it solo (despite the 5,000 other cyclists). Do any of you BF'ers meet anywhere specific for this? I would like to have some companionship for the encouragement and company.

For the last two years there was a meet up at a small park at Malcom X and 111th, about a block north of the start point. I was delayed at the pick-up table last year and missed it.

Why don't you start a thread suggesting a meet up. I have my tag so I'm game.
I'm doing the 75 mile, but I plan to start with the 100's.

i bought a bib from someone on craigslist, hopefully it will be showing up at my desk before Friday!

i'll keep an eye on this thread as well, as I would like to meet up with some fellow BF'ers as well. this is my 3rd century in the last 6 weeks, and i'm stoked to be doing it on my home turf. most likely will be on a single-speed as well. *insert evil laugh*

This thread is short enough to talk about a meeting place. That park is perfect...though I'll probably start with everyone else (marshaling). See if I can sneak out.

Air,

I am again Marshalling the 100.
Check in get your Marshal kit.
You will be fed out with groups of the 100 riders.
Your best bet is to try to weasel your way to ride with them as we are sent out with each pack.
If that fails, then make a spot to meet up, my guess is riverside dr and 86th St or 79th St.

If all your friends have their bibs they can skip the OFFICIAL start and start a block outside the park, they will just not get a cue sheet.

Yup, I remember the process Third year and counting - hopefully this time I finish! Depends how late I get up after the wedding Saturday night.... If I get there early enough I'll sneak out and say hey to everyone at that little park - if I'm late like last year that probably won't happen.

I'm marshaling the 50 m.

I'd love to be there to scoot out with 100s but doubt I'll even be awake by then!

I'll be marshaling the 100 mile ride and will be on a red bike wearing a BF.net jersey. They just sent out an email with the cue sheet.

If anybody wants a copy of the 100 miles cue sheet, send me an email: s c o r e r 7 5 @ a o l . c o m

(just remove the spaces in the email address)

I'm doing the 100. Already got my bib in the mail and have a printout of the cue sheet courtesy of Scorer75.

I'm down to meet up at 111th St. & Malcolm X. What time will you guys be leaving from there? 6AM?

Not for me. I'll be riding about 7 miles to the start and 7 miles back home afterwards, so I should put in about 112 miles when all is said and done.
