Capay Valley Cruise, Sunday November 8

You're invited to come back to Yolo County for a ride up the Capay Valley/Rumsey Canyon along the Cache Creek on Sunday, November 8. Meet at the open north parking lot at the Cache Creek Casino, just above the gas station, at 9am.

55 miles, out and back along Highway 16, climbing up to the turnaround point at Highway 20. This is a portion of the Davis Double, often ridden in the dark, so if you want to see what you're missing, come on out. Not very steep, with maybe 1700' (edited per Joel's Garmin!) of climbing over a long distance. Water should be available at county parks along the way, with food at the casino after if you're interested. Pace is slow poke style, 15-17 mph, with frequent regroups and no drops. Rain cancels.

PM me if you have any questions.

Directions to the casino:
https://www.cachecreek.com/map_and_directions/

Ride report from the last time:

Joe, My Garmin recorded a little over 1700 feet climbing for that ride back in March.

Even so, I'm a maybe. Especially if I can talk someone else from this area into going and carpooling.

Thanks for the correction. Couldn't remember what folks said for climbing. 1700' seems like a lot though-certainly doesn't feel that bad.

Hope you can make it.

Maybe. Depends on whether the captain and/or stoker has homework or not. Otherwise, it might be the maiden voyage of a "new" Madone 5.2

Sounds good Chuck. I'll decide after Foxy's. Right now, I'm all worried about how I'll fare considering I haven't ridden in nearly 2 weeks (blasted flu).

Cgallagh & I will discuss this -- we don't have any November rides scheduled yet.

Hope to see you there, if not on Saturday. Can't make it down for Friday night unfortunately. Work's picked up a bit...

Hope to see you.

Did I meet you with her at the Party Pardee ride this year at the first rest stop? I probably should have done the whole ride...

Last time we spread out a bit since I was battling bronchitis and it wasn't a real problem, so if you go a little slower, should be fine. You coming up?

Don't know yet. Haven't ridden much for 3 months now. I cruise at 12-13mph on the flats now, and climb at about 7 mph on my bent.

Just to consider-it's an out and back route so you can always turn around along the creek instead of going all the way up the canyon if it becomes an issue. Climbing is not that big a deal on this ride, certainly compared to most Bay Area rides. Only a couple of steep spots, and none are long.

Yes, I believe we met at the Pardee ride. I'm looking forward to riding in CA...wish I was getting there during warmer weather, but I won't complain too much. If the temps are decent... we'll likely do the ride.
