At least we made the effort and showed up.

Long way to go for a free donut, though. 160 miles, round trip.

Rich and I made the best of it, though, and did a Livermore Loop ride. While it was no Capay Valley, it was a reasonable approximation at just over 48 miles and ~2000' of climbing. Of course, I only had Rich for company, and that sucked - but hey, all he had was me, so he probably got the better end of that deal.

Thanks all for a fun ride today. Twelve of us gathered in the Cache Creek Casino parking lot, with two DNS-equipment issues. Oh well, next time. Absolutely spectacular weather, hope you rode today, too.

Joel & shiz702 headed off to get in more climbing while the rest of us formed a paceline behind.

First time on the new bike, nice ride Daniel!

cantdrv55, thanks for the donuts

After 12 miles of the Capay Valley, we entered the Rumsey Canyon

At the first rest stop

Anyone else ever ride by a teepee?

Not much water in the creek

Joel & shiz702 head off to climb Resurrection and fight the traffic

Thanks again for joining me. I'll lead this again in March....

Great day, great route, great ride. Thanks Joe for setting this up. Thanks everyone for pulling me along. I love riding with BF'ers. You guys just don't seem to mind going out of your way to look out for one another.

How come when I look in the mirror, I look fine? Just how many pounds does a camera really add?

Uh, let's get this straight. Bigbossman had "equipment" issues. I had "the guy who drove me up had equipment issues" issues. Let's run down the list.

Bikes: Me, check. BBM, check.
Shorts: Check and check.
Jerseys" Check and check.
New material with which to keep everyone entertained: Check and check.
Shoes and helmet? Me, check. BBM, not so much.

BBM offered to wait around at the Cache Creek Gaming Resort whilst I rode with other folks who came prepared, but I am such a loyal friend that I was willing to ruin my day, not to mention a significant portion of my life, giving up the chance to enjoy this scenic wonderland in such absolutely perfect autumn weather, a combination I'll likely never be able to duplicate, rather than abandon him to a fate of crying in his beer and losing the house in a cutthroat game of gin rummy. That is the kind of loyal friend I am.

So while you guys were living it up in the Capay Valley, we ended up capering about the Livermore Valley. Not an Indian gaming facility along the entire way.

Ten pounds.

Per camera.

Using that as the measurement, I've had five or six cameras on me for about 30 years now.

Sorry, you're absolutely right, should have read:

"One DNS-equipment failure and one DNS-nice guy who didn't force his friend to sit in a casino because he left his helmet and shoes at home."

Thanks for coming out Chris.

Notice that there's no pictures of me in this? It's better to take the photos.

Blah blah, blah blah blah.....
Trust me, I would have found someting to amuse myself with in that casino. Armed with my boyish good looks and winning smile, I would not have been lonely for long.

Some more pics from the ride:

Bikingshearer explaining to cantdrv55 that he did have all his gear, but...

Pre-ride prep.

Rushfan rotating back after a pull

Miles and miles of scenery that looked like this

Joel and shiz702 going up the road after climbing Resurrection and catching some of the group on the way back.

Thanks again, Joe, for organizing, and thanks to everyone that came out and made this a really fun ride. 'Can't wait for the next ride.

A great group of people to spend a Sunday with! Thanks again for organizing the ride, Joe. And thanks for the morning donuts, Chris! The weather and scenery were perfect, even though my feeble climbing legs were not

Almost - it was Sister Mary Finnbar, 4th grade, and Our Lady of Peace. She didn't need a heavier ruler as she used a bronze one, courtesy of the local brickyard. Now you all know why I am the way I am.

If I had a nickel for every time I disappointed a nun...........

. . . . you'd have a dime. They knew better than to expect very much from you.

This was definately a good day for riding. I had fun despite having a cramping in my right hamstring/glute the entire ride. Thanks to everyone! The Mexican food wasn't bad either...

Here's some of the shots I took.

Great pictures.

Joel, looks like your jersey is getting too big again.

It's too long anyway. I need a race cut. Weight has been stable all year though. That's been good.
