Timbuk2's mission statement: The Customer is Always Wrong
I went to the Timbuk2 flagship store in San Francisco to attempt to order a custom extra-small messenger bag with a stabilizer strap. I have this apparently insane notion of riding a bicycle with the bag and securing it so it does not swing around.
The patronizing clerk first told me "nobody rides" with an extra small messenger bag, then later admitted "a lot of people" have come to the store requesting the same thing and been refused because Timbuk2 knows better.
The corporate office confirmed Timbuk2 absolutely will NOT make an extra small messenger bag with D-rings to secure a stabilizer strap. And fv¢k me for even asking.
So much for buying local. I wish Rickshaw or Chrome offered better reflective fabrics.

You can always add your own reflective tape.
Sucks to hear they don't make an extra small... I but they would still sell if they priced it the same as the next size up.

They make an extra-small, they just won't let you add the stabilizer strap that comes standard on all the other sizes.

Customer service like deserves a suitable reward. Take your business elsewhere.

First off - https://www.chromebagsstore.com/bags/...ht-series.html
And second off - No one said they had to build a bag to your specs. I don't want to be an *******, but deal with it. You wouldn't leave a restaurant because the chef refused to add croutons to your salad.

I get involved in a lot of eclectic interests and it's very common that business people have tunnel vision when it comes to their production. I can't count the times I have heard "we can't do that" or better yet "why do you want that" when I have inquired about something non-standard. Usually my requests are completely do-able once you get them thinking outside their box.

The chrome bag is reflective only. I'm looking for something with visibility day and night.
All I'm asking is for them to sew in a D-ring when they assemble the bag and to sell me the extra strap. Both of these are stock parts literally sitting on the assembly tables where they make the bags. I compared all the parts in person in their retail shop and there is no engineering or design conflict preventing their stock strap from fitting on an extra small bag. They sew the D-rings in their four other sizes so I know their workers have the knowledge and skill to excecute this CRAZY request.
The extra small fits an ipad, a book, a mini U-lock, tube and tools which combined will shift the bag without the stabilizer strap.
For what they charge for a custom bag, I mistakenly expected them to be a little accommodating.

From your friends over at SSFG - https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...perlist-going.
Just remembered about that thread! A lot of those companies will go custom. I recommend Seagull bags.

Thanks for that. I saw some Freightbaggage bags at Pushbike today that looked really nice, but too big for my need.

Out of all the SF bag makers (actually, out of all bike-focused bag makers, and I've tried just about all of them), I think MissionWorkshop is the most thought out, most waterproof and most sturdy. Take a look at them. Lots of sizes.
