Traffic enforcement on Sausalito Bike Highway

FYI Two guys in sheriff's uniforms were ticketing about 6 bicyclists this afternoon, south of the underpass under 101, but north of the last stop sign.

We saw cops pulling over cyclists further down the hill closer to town on Sunday. Theymadbro.

Could you tell what they were pulling people over for? Stop signs?

Usually not stopping for peds at intersections, running stop signs and lights, making right turns on red without stopping like at Blythedale and Camino Alto.

Bikes: Surly LHTD with a YAK trailer. I may have to ditch the trailer and go to panniers but I'll give it a try and see what happens.

It's gotta be a slow crime day when the cops are ticketing bicyclists for running stop signs and turning right on a red w/out stopping. I guess they never heard that many cyclists get injured, while waiting at an intersection, by vehicles that hit them from behind.

A kid was hit back in September and it resulted in skull fractures to the kid near the water fountain on the Mill Valley bike path. The police did not indicate the woman who hit the kid was going above the speed limit though. Residents complained so enforcement is up and some are calling for a 10MPH speed limit on the path comparing riders to packs of wolves. A TV reporter was demonizing riders going an astounding 17 MPH on the 15 MPH limit path. I'm not sure at what speed they will issue a ticket for speeding though - is it the same 10 MPH leniency that motorists get?

Speed limits on the SF Bay MUP is 15, not that you can do that amongst the dog walkers with extendo leashes. I suspect those riders were cited for blowing the stop sign at the road crossing just prior to the overpass.

That's exactly where the path widens and I tend to go faster. Usually to fight a headwind. Sometimes to get where I want to ride most faster. I wouldn't expect to see enforcement there and I could see how I could easily go 15-25 MPH and be somewhat oblivious to what is effectively a bicycle speed trap. I don't think it's to generate revenue, but someone complained and now they have to respond and put on a show.

I avoid MUPs at all costs. I have a road bike not a path bike. The clueless peds with their headphones in are way more dangerous than cars.

hmmm which route should I take use the bike path 6.5 miles and 75 ft. of elevation gain https://tinyurl.com/ljjlfqy or stay off t he MUP 10.3miles with 1073 in elevation gain https://tinyurl.com/pthh6m6? The mill valley/Sausalito path is a pretty cool MUP never a second thought about using it. I know that spot well not sure what kind of timing would have to be involved for a cyclist to hit a kid. Maybe I'm just too slow...

But if a car hit the kid while on the road riding his bike, it would have been a tragic accident and poor little Billy wasn't obeying traffic laws.

Yeah, bunch of hypocritical bull ****, and **** those cops for harassing cyclists. Same **** Santa Clara sheriffs department does at woodside, but when one of the motorists runs of a cyclist or harasses them they just look the other way. Protect and serve my ass. I have 0 respect for sheriffs department. Whenever I lived it's the same **** with cronyism and sucking up to whoever has the most money in the county.
