good for helmets in general .. though I am slow and rarely leave town and use my brakes a lot on downhills .

Even before the crash yesterday I've become a G Thomas fan just watching him do his job. Awesome rider and genuine hard man. Froome should get down on his knees and thank his lucky stars that Barguil didn't take him out of the race.

Since Warren Barguil is not being disqualified for riding like an idiot, here's a penalty that would be fair for Geraint Thomas.
Geraint lost .38 sec in the GC thanks to being booted off the road...........he should get all his time back - same Time position as previous stage
and Warren Barguil should lose 3x .38 sec for reckless / dangerous riding............and then offering BS excuses afterwards

I liked Geraint Thomas a lot more before this season I admire him as a classics rider, and trackie,
I think he's doped to the gills - Going from classics specialist to world-class grand tour climber in one season? Hmmm...

Today's stage 17 is the same as this year's stage 5 of the Dauphiné when Bardet rode to a solo win.
Last 9 Km of Stage 5 - Finishing Climb (2015/criterium-du-dauphine-libere)
All the main GC guys except Contador will remember it well but I'll be surprised if it works out the same. It'll be interesting to compare today's winning time to Bardet's 4:31:22, TvG's +36 and Froome's +40

He's ridden in the TdF six times (inc this year) since 2007, improving his position every year, other than 2013 when he rode with a fractured pelvis from a first day crash. It has taken him a lot more more than one season to improve to his current ranking. It could be that concentrating on road rather than track has also helped.

Where can I see Froome's data file that Sky released yesterday? I "follow" some other TdF riders like Gesink and Kwiatkowski on Strava and TrainingPeaks. Does anyone have the similar link to Froome's data?

Not the full data but here's the press conference that Sky did yesterday outlining the data.

Current (massive) breakaway includes some really good riders (Porte, Pinot, Uran, Sagan, Hesjedal, Talansky, etc.) so I wouldn't be surprised if they keep it going until the end.

TvG 1:29 behind the GC group. Live - Tour de France 2015 : "BMC directeur sportif Yvon Ledanois has informed France Televisions that Tejay van Garderen is sick. He's 3.52 behind the front group."
edit: 2:15 behind the GC group now.
