Wow! Just read on Cycling News that he has equaled the record for Tour de France performances.

its not his job to win the race. hes never been a team leader. he's the super domestique. its his job to get his captain the win and for him to finish. thats all he has ever done and thats what he is damn good at. besides, he's been on 9 tdf winning teams. thats kind of like having 9 superbowl rings isnt it? id say aside from armstrong, lemond, and levi lepheimer, he's probably the next best rider this country ever had.

I'm with you on George's role and importance, I was pointing out that Joop had won the overall, and was not just a member of the winning team.
