Memo to file

Memo to file: the house of Lance Armstrong will come crashing down. A lot of folks cooperating with the feds. It will happen, mark my words.

I believe in the long-term that this will be good for the sport. In the interim, it will be a PR disaster of incredible magnitude. It will be a disaster for the Tour de France (what to do?); for the UCI (they covered it up) for most of the mainstream and specialized cycling press (ditto); for the sport as a whole (since in some places, lance is cycling); for the fight against cancer to an extent; for Phil and Paul (they were in love!); for the image of cycling in general, etc, etc...

What a brute!

Once the Feds are involved, then "controlled paranoia" sets in. Everybody starts hiring criminal lawyers and angling for deals.

And you never know who is cooperating with the Feds, and everything just feeds on itself.

It ain't gonna be pretty, that's for sure.

Let's just say, for the sake of argument, that the feds find that Lance did dope during his USPS days. Will the TDF take his yellow jerseys away? Will the ASO need to do their own investigation or will the Fed's findings be good enough to take action?

I don't think so, I doubt UCI/ASO rules provide for doing that after such a long time. Isn't Bjarne "60%" Riis still counted as winner of the '96 Tour de France despite having admitted doping? (of course giving the victory to second placed Jan Ullrich or 3rd placed Richard Virenque instead would be pointless too in that regard )

LOL, yeah, how far back in the field would one have to go to find someone clean?

I read a couple of years ago that riss was taken off the books after he admitted it. Just wonder how many people should off the charts if they admit that were some irregularities also 50%? Maybe only lemmond stands all alone in the chart hehehe

I don't believe that is the case. It was beyond the statute of limitations.

Riis' victory still stands in the Tour de France record books.

Some say you cannot strip him of the title, others say he can no longer claim to have won.

Assume Lance is guilty of systematic and organized doping (some of us concluded this years ago). The Tour de France will be the Tour de France and probably be affected very little if it at all. Lance will be disgraced and become the Pete Rose of cycling. Phil, Paul, and Bob-the-Shill will have to STFU and finally cool it with their Lance Love Affair(tm) (their cheerleading was an embarrassment during last years race).

Win. Win. Win.

The number of logical fallacies in that article is laughable

Goes to show how someone with a certain amount of expertise in a field of study is not necessarily an expert in another. For an academic, you would have thought he would have had facts to back up his generalization statements. I wonder if he'd like to go back and change some things about his article.

Wow. How's he able to deduce what years riders actually rode clean?

All the sport really needs is that guy's crystal ball.
