UCI World Championships on Universal Sports TONIGHT (9/20)
FYI for those who might want to DVR it, although I know a lot of folks don't get Universal. I'm sure I could get the results right now, but I'm gonna wait to watch tonight. The TV Guide thing says "UCI World Championships road-racing time trials", so I'm guessing they'll cover both races in the two hour block tonight?
I also saw a commercial which mentioned both events, Cancellara and Hushovd, and only mentioned the one time, that being 8:00 Eastern, 5:00 Pacific.
Tony Martin has looked amazing this year against the clock. I think he has a good chance of unseating Cancellara, and I REALLY hope to see something interesting in the road race, i.e. anything but Cav winning a field sprint.

Thanks for the reminder! I would have forgotten...
Yeah, I'm ready to see Tyler Farrar take it to Cavendish - if he's healthy...

Hmmmmm... Half an hour into it and it's just the Women's TT so far.
Anybody know the real story on the TV coverage? When is the men's TT? When is the men's RR?

The Men's Elite TT is tomorrow, 9/21. I believe Universal is airing coverage, but it will be time delayed.
The Men's Elite Road Race is on 9/25, and it will be aired live on Universal.

Universal Sports is broadcst over the air in Los Angeles. Its one of Channell 4's digital sisters. If you have cable in Los Angles it should alos be available. When I had Comcast it was 238 or something close to that. If you have satelite you are **** out of luck. I buy the Season Package direct from Universal Sports and stream it to the plasma. Coverage is usually available to stream about a day behind live events. The season package includes The Giro, The Vuelta , the Worlds and a few other events that stinking Versus has not determined to be worthy of North American distributition.

Good new Canadians, I see there will be coverage on Sportsnet One. The mens' TT is this afternoon (I already know who won) and the womens' TT tomorrow morning (live?).

I expected Sportsnet would pick up from Universal as they did with the Giro and Vuelta, but we got a droll commentary by an announcer with an English or Australian accent. Do you get Schlenger and Gogulski in the USA?

Sorry, I'm in the UK. If you got a droll Englishman's commentary it might have come from Dave Harmon? Was he accompanied by a colour commentator with a thick Irish accent? If so, the latter was Sean Kelly, and they are picking up from the Eurosport coverage.

There is no colour commentator, just the single announcer. The accent isn't quite English nor Australian, and there was no introduction at the beginning of the TT.
I am recording this morning and I just turned on the TV and it turns out to be the womens' road race, not the TT as stated in the listings. It started at 7:30 am, 13:30 in Denmark, so it is live. I heard the same announcer but I only watched for about a minute so it is possible there is a colour commentator but I doubt it. Will watch the recording soon and FF the interminable commercials that are inserted here.

OK, I watched it, with a lot of fast forwarding. Still do not know who the announcer is, but he is located at the start/finish line (not in a studio). The broadcast started at the instant they crossed the start line and there were no opening graphics nor did the announcer give his name. I suspect there was half an hour of pre-race but we did not get that here in Canada. There were no closing credits either, but Sportsnet may have cut away before they rolled. No on-screen graphic other than Sportsnets. Perhaps this guy was a freelancer and sold the commentary to various English speaking countries.
While Clara Hughes was out front he repeatedly said that the peloton better chase soon or they would never catch her. Perhaps he was trying to create drama, but pelotons almost always catch a lone rider with a lead of maximum 45 seconds.
