Info on Trek Crocket Disc
I am thinking of buying a used Trek Crockett disc frame (the blue one) from my local craigslist. I am not very familiar with the frame and have a couple of questions.
1. Is this bike suitable for gravel riding in addition to cx (I plan on doing some long distance gravel rides this year)
2. What is the tab thingy at the bottom of the seatpost?
3. It appears to have a press fit bottom bracket. I am not very familiar with these. Are you restricted to the types of cranks you can run with a press-fit BB?
4. Anyone know what the tire clearance is on this frame?
Thanks.

Before all of that, what's your height? If the frame is too small, not a good buy.
You're better off buying a BD Omni Strada which ticks all your boxes for pavement and gravel riding.

I am a little worried about the size. The frame is a 56cm. I am 5'8" with a 31 inseam. I usually take a 53-55. Then again, the standover on this frame is 31 and the bigger size would give me a taller headtube for a more upright position.

Its too big. I'm 5'7" with a 30" inseam and I usually take a 53-55. The BD Omni Strada has your size listed at 53 cm. If you're going for a gravel road/adventure bike - the Omni Strada is the better buy again.

A cross bike should work fine as a gravel bike. Just find out how much tire clearance you're working with. You might want to run as big as 40mm and a dedicated cross bike might only fit up to 35mm. The geometry will also be a bit twitchier, which might get unsettling on a long, fast descent.
