I'd like to set up my Soma Double Cross Disc for single speed. I'm not a fan of chain tensioners, so I'm planning on building a rear wheel with a White Industries ENO eccentric disc hub with an Alex TD17 rim.

One concern I have is the frame is 132.5 and the hub is 135. My current XT hub is 135, so I assume this won't be any issue.

Any thoughts on how this hub will handle cross racing (slowly) from a BMF (230 lbs)?

Steel bends. The whole idea of the in-betweener size is to give you options.

Initial setup of the ENO hub is a little fidgety, and you're going to have to re-tension the setup as your drive train gets broken in, but once it's set up it should be fine. It might help to rough up the inside of the dropouts.

FWIW I've been really happy with the Soulcraft tensioner on my SS 29er. Similar to the ENO hub, in that it's a little fidgety at first setup. Regardless of how you go, you want good chainline and drivetrain parts.

The hub will be fine. I've used the Eno Eccentric in the past on a SS mtb, and it handled all the torque, bashing, and general tom-foolery of technical single track riding. It'll work on your cross bike.

You might consider adding a star lock washer on the axle ends.

since 1 you have the width, and 2 the added grip of the spring steel washer..

I have raced with an ENO and it was never a problem. My Poprad had the same spacing as well. The disk will add some complications in the set up but it should work perfectly after that.

Thanks for the responses. They make an adjustable disc mount to use with the ENO hub, so hopefully that will make the disc tuning fairly straightforward.
