Thinking of a new 2 wheeler, Tour Easy or Bacchetta
I love my trike and will always keep one but I still jump between the trike and my mtn bike. I'm thinking of giving a bent a try, I'm still a clydesdale and have to watch the weight limit. I like the Bacchetta but see no weight limit on the Tour Easy.

Which Bacchetta?
There are a LOT of recumbent bike frame designs and they all ride a little differently. You would be well advised to take a road trip to a recumbent specialty shop where you can see and maybe test ride a few examples to see which would be best for you. Weight limits might be a limiting factor on several models. Transportation and storage are other factors that you need to think through.

I thought I read somewhere that the chromoly TE was good up to 350 pounds..

I have a bacchetta 26att; so, yes I am biased. That being said, it is a quick feeling, sporty bike, yet it is solid feeling when loaded down with groceries. one thing that is important to me but may not be to you, is that the Bacchetta fits on the racks on the front of a bus.

How about a HP Velotechnik Street Machine or an Azub 6? Have anyone ever compared the two? Seems both would be excellent SWB touring machines.

Just be open to the idea that what you think is just what you think.
You ought to consider test-riding a selection of bicycles, more than one, to find that one bike that both suits your needs

I have 2 SWB recumbent bicycles: a Rans Enduro Sport with 20/26" wheels and a Rans Rocket with both 20" wheels. I'm having a hard time deciding which one I like better. I think that I'm going to refit the Enduro Sport for paved road use and reserve the Rocket, which has wider tires, for the Katy Trail and the like.
For some reason Mrs. Grouch won't allow me to test ride any other bikes.

Again I really suggest you check out the Rans Stratus LE. It costs several hundred dollars less than the Easy
Racer, and it now comes standard with disc brakes. My 2008 Stratus now has over 15,000 miles on it, and has been flawless.

I have both and prefer the Tour Easy for fast road rides. It has a windshield and that really helps in headwinds and after I get up over 15 mph. My Bacchetta (the Bumblebeast) is for offroad. I built it up using the Bella ATT frame. I had a Bacchetta Café and it was a nice enough bike. But there are several bents that will handle big riders. Im around 250 myself.

You might call John Schlitter of Vite Bikes/Schlitter.bike and see whether he can set you up in an Encore (full carbon swb bent semi custom ). Be honest about your weight and measurements and he will tell you if the Encore can carry you. He designed it.

I have to take the front wheel off and canter the front end to lay it In my truck bed tail gate closed even with It's 6'8" bed.
Stair cases are out,
You have to be a bit of an acrobat to maneuver around a crosswalk pole, stop sign and a power pole all at once to cross a busy street..

I spend an 8 hour day test riding. The bike I thought I wanted isn't what I came home with. On paper it was perfect, in practice I had to go through about 6-7 bikes before I found one that clicked with me. For the record, I thought I wanted the Giro 26, but I ended up with a Giro 20. Even similar bikes like the Linear with the USS didn't quite feel right.
