Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Has anyone tried the Kask Protone?

Been watching team Sky race with them in the Giro and somewhat don't mind the look of em. They're like an aero road lid.

Does anyone have one of these or have tried one out? I was about to go with a Mojito but now I'm thinking of laying down the cash for a white one of these. The Mojito fits like a charm but does anyone know if these Protones run in the same fit?

It's on backorder. They haven't shipped them to many places AFAIK, running behind on production it seems. Last I heard, mine will come in the first week of June. Sky has had them since last year, but obviously they get them first. The KASK helmets all fit the same as far as I know, at least the sizing charts are the same. I have a KASK Infinity and I ordered a Protone in the same size.

It doesn't look particularly aero to my eye. Handsome, though.

Worth the wait. I wonder how Sky rates them in the Giro.. Living in northern Australia i hope they don't get too hot, though i don't really see how this could happen as they look vented enough. What colour you getting?

I like its looks. Probably it's as good (or bad) as any other helmet.

Kask puzzles me. I don't get it. Bell and Giro are plenty fine enough for me.

The mystique. People put up with beaucoup aggravation to get one. Bring one back from Italy. Order from a European store. Deal with backorders. Faulty fit in one case I know of. I guess it is getting easier now with CC having them (sometimes), but for all that trouble and high price I would want more than just a helmet.

Top of the line helmet, great reviews, very light, great fit for most, used by many pros, etc., etc. No mystery to me. Some people don't want good enough, they want the best and are willing to pay the price.

A first world problem I guess.

I understand both sides, however i do believe its one thing to be innovative but its another to be competitive in the market.

Black. With regard to venting, I don't think it will be a problem. My Infinity with the vent open is pretty good, and the Protone was apparently (at least partly) designed with airflow in mind.
