Boxing and cross training which means a whole lot of sit-ups, push-ups, TRX workouts, squats, lunges, free weights, swimming, balance stuff and a tiny bit of running.

I swim. During this summer, as I've had the time, I'm typically riding for about 2 hours and swimming laps for about 1.5 hours on most days.

Barbells and body weight strength training. Used to train muay thai and bjj but don't have the time anymore and I was sick of nagging injuries that never heal as I get closer to 40

Sadly, pretty much none.
Cycling is the only sport I can do with any intensity anymore due to various injuries.
When I was age 20 - 25 I was into cycling. Then I got introduced to rock climbing and that was my whole life for 10 years. Then I had to give that up due to terrible tendonitis, and I picked up submission wrestling / Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. That then became my whole life for almost 7 years. Then, I developed arthritis in one of my hips. When that happened, I ended up sedentary for several years before finally getting fed up.
So, now I have come full circle back to cycling. It is a distant 3rd compared to the other two, but it is what it is. Eventually I will get my hip replaced and then perhaps I will return to climbing and grappling. Trying to avoid going down that road as long as possible. Cycling seems to be keeping the arthritis from advancing past the point I can deal with.
I do lift a little bit here and there and play some light tennis with my GF once a week.

Frankly I find that the older I get the harder it is to find supplemental exercise for both lower and upper body that do not do more damage than good. Core strengthening is a great idea, but once your back is damaged (muscles), it is awfully hard to find exercises to strengthen it that don't just make it hurt. I can do crunches as much as I want, but that is about it. Same for knees and shoulders. A little arthritis can make a whole range of exercises impossible to tolerate. I find that I can get through the exercises just fine, but next day I am in big trouble.
I don't mean to be whining, but it is very frustrating. I have always believed the way to stay alive is to stay mobile, not just for heart and respiratory health but for skeletal health too, maintaining good balance, avoiding falls and injuries, etc. For so many people a fall and a broken hip are the gateway to the grave. Trouble is that the exercises you need to do to maintain that skeletal health can be precluded by other conditions like arthritis. Then what to do?

Golf. It doesn't sound like a work out, but if you walk with a 50lb bag on your back for 5 hilly miles, you too would agree that it counts.

I agree, though, that walking a course can be quite strenuous, but it's the best way to play the game, IMO.

Nothing, I hate exercise fore exercise sake. I ride bikes because I love it, it just happens to be one of the top exercises.

I had a lot of back and knee pain in my 40s and then took up an intense cross training regimen (not cross fit FYI). That and losing 70 pounds or so has been the best thing I've ever done for my body. Almost zero back and knee pain now. That little bit of arthritis discomfort in my hands and hip is all but gone. Worst pain I have is a slight bit of sciatica and the secret for that is the foam roller. I'm 51 and never felt better. My two sisters (one older, one my twin) complain about pain all the time. So does my brother. They scoff at how much I work out and how much I beg them to get on board. I just grin and work out harder.

If your bag weighs 50lb then you either need a new bag, dump some clubs, or both. When I used to play a lot I thought my bag was heavy, but no way it weighed 50lbs, even with all 14 clubs inside, including a long putter, water bottle, and countless balls.
I agree, though, that walking a course can be quite strenuous, but it's the best way to play the game, IMO.

For my day job I teach ballet and modern dance--which means also taking ballet and modern dance classes often. Sometimes I wish I had picked a sedentary hobby. On the plus side, dance class and cycling are very complementary workouts that enhance each other while also addressing some of the deficiencies in each.

Great stuff. I did all of that when I was younger. Now that I am 70 my mind still wants to write that check but I have a hard time cashing it. It is hard to recover and weave all of that together even though I am retired and have the time. Here in Southern California the winter provides all of that in normal years. Bike ride along the coast on Saturday. Snowshoe, hike or cross country ski on Sunday, ride and weight train during the week. Then there was inline skate racing and short track Tuesday and Thursday nights at Skate Land in Paramount and velodrome racing friday night. Not sure how i did it all and worked for a living.

...isn't sex is a ball sport I've always played "something" with passion, and cycling is now my thing again. Here's the order from age 10 : Little League baseball. basketball (longest time span), ultimate frisbee, cycling, running, racquetball, golf, weight lifting, hiking, and now fully back into cycling.

It's a really fun game, kind of a mix of soccer and football. Usually just called ultimate, but adding frisbee helps define it. A great way to run alot w/o the drudgery of just running. Here's the USA Ultimate website: USA Ultimate | Home Page
