Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Why is Apex in a serif font in a san serif one? Inquisitive minds want to know.

It's a mysterious as the pecking order...

Or it is a glitch from copying and pasting.

I own a bike with claris brifters and derailleurs. I don't own a bike with sram red. Ergo, claris is better.

This is turning out even better than I had hoped!

Further evidence: I have test ridden a few bikes with Claris, and they all shifted and let me pedal around fast...I've never ridden a bike with Red, the Sram red bikes I've seen just sit in the shop and do nothing...so Claris wins that one...

Also, there is a rider in my group rides that has Sram red, and while he IS one of the fastest, he is also going bald, so I'll definitely be avoiding whatever he is using...

And...is it some sort of linguistic irony that puts the word "APEX" at the bottom of a list?

Probably his lack of hair that allows his speed.

I am currently run a 10 speed sram red set up with shimano cassette and ultegra front derailur. as srams front derailurs have never worked the best, but i do like the double tap zero loss, and the shape of there levers and hoods.if i had more money id defintly be runing ultgrea di2 or dura di2.

Hey, it's "the" list.

I would argue it, but I ride a 105 bike. I hardly ever see Campy in the wild, and when I do they are always faster than me.

I guess it's accurate cause my wife has an Apex group and both of my kids and I can beat her.

Nuthin wrong with the Red FD. You push the lever and the front shifts. i don't know what else folks want.

Some front derailurs have diffrent shape that helps more.the ultegra shifted much better than the force or red 10 speed front mech i tried. I run a 50/34 which may be part of the reason

My old Red even works great on FSA cranks.

Warning: when a shimano claris shifter acts up, and doesn’t function properly, it may need to be double tapped to effectuate a proper shift.
