Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Ksyrium pro sl

Just to ask few advices... Was going to build up (well order from a LBS) the following wheelset:

Pacenti SL23
Hope Mono RS
Sapim CX-Ray (24F, 28R)

to run on my road bike with the new Schwalbe Pro One tubeless, in size 25. I ride to work with my bike and do long rides in the week end. Im quiet heavy (85 kg).

... Then Mavic just released on the market the new KSYRIUM PRO, that I presume is 23mm~ish width (not able to find any info abouth width on the Mavic website), 1475 grams (so probably closed to the custom build I had in mind) and with 622x17C.
They also presented the KSYRIUM PRO SL, lighter but 622x15C...

Do you have more info about the new wheelset? On the web specialist websites speak just about the disc version of these wheels...

Are they tubeless?

Thanks

Some more info:

Mavic launches wider rims in Wyoming?s wide open spaces - VeloNews.com
2016 Mavic Road Wheels | Bicycling

They don't mention the external width, but they might be a little shy of 23mm. Maybe in the 20.5-22mm range? They talk about the 17c internal, but (for example) the first Pacenti SL23's were 18.5 internal...and the newest version is over 20c. I'd guess the Mavics are relatively easy to run tubeless. Only their most basic models have exposed spoke ends (from what I remember).

I would go with the custom set you described, no question whatsoever over the Mavics. It will be better in every way.

I do question the Hope hub choice. They are the same weight as Dura Ace but you can get a DA set for about $300 and they have a more durable Ti freehub and better bearings. They also come with excellent skewers. Just something to think about.

^ DA or t11 hubs would be my choice. (Or maybe the November build around their new hub?) I'm running r45's with SL23's.

Between the persistent rim cracking issues and MAVIC's non-existent customer service I'm done with Ksyriums...

+1. I had an earlier set of Pro SL's. Maybe from around 2009. They were nothing but trouble. The spoke nipples had a design flaw that allowed moisture to get inside and cause them to seize. One of mine on the front wheel cracked when a well-respected shop tried to perform a minor true. Mavic refused to make the repair on their dime. The rear hub started screeching like a banshee maybe a year after I got it and had to be worked on several times. Not long after the spoke nipple fiasco, the rear rim cracked. Once again, replacement was at my cost. When I sent the wheel in Mavic said I should also replace the rear hub--again at my cost. I will never buy another Mavic product. Riding Stan's tubeless built around CK hubs. Love them.

Thanks for the comments. I was at the beggining thinking to White Industries but I choose a budget that is closed to the build described above.

I forgot to add, not important, that i need campag freehud and I live in UK

Sounds like you know what it is that you want to get, and not to knock Mavic wheels - I own a few pair - you might consider some Boyd wheels. Great wheels and very well priced. I recently purchased some of their carbon tubulars in 44mm and they are da' bomb! Really great wheels. Boyd Cycling
