Which 41 "controversy" do you find most amusing?

One poster here rather notoriously continued to insist that Tiagra and below "weren't real groups" and he'd never even consider riding a bike equipped with that garbage, much less buying one, and told people they shouldn't bother entering the road bike world with anything less than 105, preferably Ultegra or above.
Of course, he'd never ridden anything with Tiagra and had no idea what he was basing that on, other than trying to rationalize a fleet of really expensive bikes.
Generally, the mental gymnastics that take place to rationalize a given purchase are the "best" threads here as far as entertainment/troll value.

Ok, back on topic before anyone gets upset. I love when people get into pissing matches about how their average speed is measured. I recall a thread where one guy adamantly defended his point that it has to be out your door and back in total time and distance, the clock doesn't stop if you're at a light or nature calls. That ruffled some feathers.

My personal favorite was "Single speed bikes, what are they good for?"

Not sure if it was in 41, but remember the thread where the guy kept insisting his workout/ ride on the electric bike was in some way comparable to cycling? Don't know if that could be called a controversy, I don't think anyone supported his position. Was amusing.

I am sorry but we do not need a thread about any male or female in a bikini riding a road bike. Just the thought of anybody, including myself, in our group in a bikini gives me a shiver. Actually, I should have said, especially myself.
Very well done.

Back in the 90s/early 2000s when I was still living in Austin, there was a well-known crossdressing homeless guy (Leslie, RIP) that used to ride around town in a thong. If you were unfortunate enough to ride up behind him, you would do whatever it took to pass him quickly so you didn't have to stare at that hairy ass for very long.

^ I am proud to know that there is a human society which would accept such a character riding around town ,... and scared that such a character would be out there. He is a poster child for all the causes the restrictive-minded hate. A furry-bottomed furry cross-dressing in public---and worst of all, holding up traffic on a bike. Everything the "social conservatives" hate, in a package even "liberals" can't like.
I won't look at that picture again, but it is exceedingly provocative. I would have mourned had the guy ever passed me on the road; now I mourn his passing .... but I don't ever want to look at his picture again.
There. That ought to stir up some controversy.

No People Bashing
SO, TO ALL, let's not refer specifically to any individuals in pointing out controversies, ok. Mentioning an individual is far different than just mentioning a noteworthy controversy, regardless of whether that individual is still around or not. K?
