The nice thing about tri courses is they usually are well marked, not took much traffic, and relatively flat so you can ride like this. I know I have a difficult time seeing if I need to look up much with my back that low.

No but you have to take the stem off anyway and people are afraid of dropping metal filings into the headset. Tape it over, lean the bike, take the fork out, six of one is half a dozen other ... or just ignore that tiny possibility and just cut it.
