Another thread asking a bunch of anonymous people on the interwebz what to do with my money. That's what this forum is for.

So, I have tire clearance issues with the Easton fork on my CAAD9. Option 1 is the easiest; replace said fork with another, likely a Ritchey Pro, for about $300+. Problems solved.

Option 2 is tantalizing, but more complicated. Sell CAAD9 frame/fork/crankset and hopefully net around $300. Then buy a Ritchey Road Logic for around $1000, plus a new crankset.

Probably be out $800 at that point. But at $500 more than Option 1, it seems to sting just a little bit less when contemplated in those terms, plus I have some lust for the Ritchey Road Logic. Of course, I also still love my CAAD9, so I'm torn.

What are your tire clearance issues? I ask because the Road Logic doesn't fit massive tires. You'll have trouble fitting in many 700x28 tires (some will work, some won't). I run 700x23s on mine.

Sell the CAAD 9, and use the money for counseling. Being in lust with one inanimate object and in love with another is a pure recipe for disaster. When my refrigerator suspected I had feelings for the dishwasher, it was mayhem in the kitchen until we all talked it out.

Easton forks are very narrow around the tire. A 25mm tire won't fit.

Wow, really? OK a Ritchey Fork ain't that bad!

Easton might have changed, but the EC90 fork I have won't allow a 25mm tire on a slightly wider hoop(Stans Alpha 340).

Whatever the OP should just sell his bike and get the Ritchey Road Logic, it's a fantastic bike, well worth lusting after.

You can get them for less than $1000 as well.

The Easton fork is my problem. Built some wheels using Pacenti SL23 rims, and my 23mm tires plumped out to 27mm. I have no more than 2mm of clearance at the side of the tire through the fork, and 2mm is generous.

The kind folks at Ritchey said that their fork would work. I believe an ENVE will too, but it's pricier at every level.

Then there's that Road Logic...

I've been looking. Haven't found one for under $1000 yet. Well, Performance had some for $999 I believe, but it's an item that they'll only ship to a Performance store, and I don't live close to one. So that plan is out.

That is kind of an awful website. I found a price list there, and they are advertising the same $1049 that everyone does. I think that the most sensible option is really just to put a new fork on my CAAD9, and be happy with it.

But that Road Logic is just sexy.

Aside from the tire clearance issue, which I caused with my new wheels, which is on an aftermarket fork anyway (having wrecked the original), I have only had one complaint about the CAAD9.

It took over 4 years of ownership to solve the creaky bottom bracket issue. It is now on it's longest stretch without problems, but if it acts up again, I will consider myself done with that frame, and indeed with any frame that has BB30.

Aside from that, it's a fantastic bike. But I love steel (my Ritchey Breakaway Cross is arguably my favorite bike) and just love the elegant simplicity of the Road Logic.
